April 2020
Our Buildings Remain Closed Until April 30

Providence Community Library's buildings are closed and the City of Providence has advised us to remain so until April 30. The period of closure may be extended - we'll keep you posted on that. We've just introduced a limited book pickup and delivery service (see details below), but otherwise, our dedicated and innovative library staff continue to work from home to bring you information, educational resources, reading materials, virtual programs, entertainment, and other resources.

Check out the Online Resources for Adults page of our website for helpful advice about how to stay safe and healthy during the current COVID-19 pandemic and extensive links that discuss employment and loss of income, advice for businesses, information about health insurance and benefits, local sources of support and more. Meanwhile, our Online Resources for Youth page suggests lots of things do while at home.
401 Gives: Because You Care
You donated because you care, and we thank you.

One hundred and five library supporters gave a total of $6,410 to Providence Community Library on 401 Gives Day, April 1. We were thrilled at your generosity, which we deeply appreciate in these challenging times. Your willingness to give is what makes our mission possible, and we will, as always, make every dollar count.

Thank you again!
NEW: PCL Launches Book Pickup Service for Kids
Providence Community Library will provide safe, contactless curbside book pickup, by appointment only, on Tuesdays and Fridays between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Poetry Month Activities for Adults & Kids

April is a special time of the year at PCL, as many staff are poetry lovers and even poets themselves!

To engage our adult patrons, librarians will offer a social media-based program throughout the month of April, #ProvidenceCommunityPoetry. Staff will provide occasional writing prompts as well as suggestions of favorite poets and their work. Check out our Facebook page for these posts!

If you have, thank you. If you haven't, there's still time to do so, and it is vitally important that you do. Information from the Census provides Rhode Island with $3.8 billion in funds every year from the federal government. These funds support healthcare, schools, roads, housing, libraries, the environment, and many services and programs in communities across the state.
