In this final issue of Residence Connection, we're sharing tips for a smooth, sustainable transition to life off-campus, and resources to support your student's well-being and academic success.
As always, please encourage your student to reach out to their Residence Don or Residence Life Coordinator if they have any questions or concerns at this busy time of year.
If you have any questions, please contact us at reslife@queensu.ca or 613-533-6790.

Key Dates for Move-Out
Students are required to move out of residence by 3 pm on the day following their last scheduled exam, or, if they are writing on April 22, by 1 pm on April 23.
Residence will close at 1 pm on April 23. The last meal served in the dining halls will be brunch that day.

Request an Extension
Should your student wish to stay beyond their scheduled move-out time, they can:
- Submit an extension request to stay until Residence closure on April 23 at 1 pm.
-
Submit a stayover request to stay in Residence until April 26 at 12 pm noon. After this time, students will be required to relocate to Summer Accommodation at the rates posted on our website.
If your student is looking for an extension or stayover, they will need to submit a request through the new Housing and Ancillary Services Portal. They can submit requests up until April 16 at 12 pm noon.

Work Towards a Wasteless Move-Out
We are encouraging our residence community to support campus-wide sustainability efforts. Your student can:
-
Donate their gently used, unwanted clothes and shoes. Plastic bags are available in every common room, garbage room, and laundry room. Your student can find their closest donation bin here.
-
Pack their belongings with free, reusable boxes available at all three dining halls, Lazy Scholar, Location 21, and Wally’s.
-
Return their GOOD TO GO container and carabiner at a participating retail location to get a refund on their $5 Flex deposit.
-
Consider donating an unused dining hall meal to a peer in need before leaving campus. Your student can simply ask a cashier to Swipe It Forward, and a future meal will be provided to a student requiring support to access a nutritious meal.
-
Consider donating any unopened, non-perishable food to the food bank. Collections are taking place at designated boxes available in your common room, the Lazy Scholar, and Location 21.
-
Participate in the Second-Hand Shuffle from April 20 to May 1. Students can donate their gently used items and pick up available items for free!
