Vice President's Address
April Showers Bring May Flowers!

April was as busy time! It rained (and shined) meetings, professional development workshops, the 18th Annual Celebration of Early Childhood and After School Professionals, Conferences x 10...it certainly felt  like everyone woke up out of hibernation, and scheduled everything in April!  Full disclosure....there's a sigh of relief as April winds down and May begins to breathe new air!

As we all wake up out of our hazy fog and ramp up our Spring and Summer happenings, I write to you to recap the last month, to express gratitude for all those that supported our annual conference and also to encourage each of you to take the time to care of yourselves.

NHAEYC 22nd Annual Spring Conference was a success! Vincent Nunes was awesome. I enjoyed listening to his stories and the way that he has such a magical way of teaching the importance of music and movement! When I stood back to watch his Keynote presentation, I marveled at how he was able to motivate and move nearly 350 of our conference guests!

As one of the conference co-chairs and committee members I am looking forward to hearing the stories about how much you enjoyed Vincent and other parts of your conference experience. Please be on the lookout for the conference survey. If you miss the memo, please drop a line at info@nhaeyc.org and share your comments (questions, suggestions, concerns and celebrations are welcome)! We want to hear from you!

This year we had our first ever Membership Lounge!
The lounge was a hit. Our members we're spoiled as they walked down the red carpet and saw their name in stars or took a picture, representing "teacher of the year!" This lounge was important to me and the rest of the committee. Each member of NAEYC / NHAYEC are extremely significant to our Early Childhood Ed Community. Each of you are a part of this professional organization and we strive to acknowledge how important you are! NAHEYC exists because we believe in the work of our Early Education Leaders! We hope you enjoyed this space as much as we enjoyed making it for you! Wait until you see next year!

A big thank you goes out to all of our Supporters, Presenters, Vendors and Volunteers. Without you this conference wouldn't have been possible. The conference was attended by 300 + Early Childhood Professionals, and we were able to provide a total of 26 Workshops, 1 amazing Keynote, Hand Selected Vendors, A membership lounge and a Silent Auction!  A big thank you goes out to Suzanne Regan and our partners at Nashua Community College. Thank you for making this happen!

Our conference committee would also like to thank Bridget Drake ! Bridget steps down from her post on the committee after several years of service. Bridget has the most amazing "can do" attitude and it's infectious! She brought a lot of cheer and laughter to our committee, as well as the ability to organize our vendors. Her ideas and skills will be greatly missed! Thanks Bridget!

Lastly, work and personal life are a balance. Make an effort to take time  to relax and rejuvenate.  Breathe, especially when you feel like  you're bogged down with the busyness of life. "Let your Light shine.." and do the things necessary to take care of yourself. Be the best you!

Thanks again for a great April! I look forward to some rest myself. I'll be back in full swing and looking for others to join our committees, volunteer for events and work on building a stronger community of partnerships in New Hampshire.
Breathe Easy,
Jessica Rice

Early Ed for President is the beginning of an ongoing effort, powered by NAEYC, funded by the  $16 for 2016 campaign, and open to all individuals and organizations across the country.

We encourage you to stay connected, engaged, and advocate!
