NHTI Welcome Message
April showers bring May flowers...we hope

We know that during this uncertain time, you are balancing health and safety concerns, financial and economic impacts, and short- and long-term planning considerations and so are we.

The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation has upended our Spring semester, cancelled planned events, moved our students off-campus and online, and forced us to be flexible and accommodating in carrying our our higher education mission.

A dedicate web page has been developed to keep our students and community supporters, like you, aware of what we are doing during this unprecedented time.

Thank you for your support and please stay safe.

Sincerely,
Laura Scott

Academic Program Spotlight - New Certificate Programs
Two new Certificate Programs have been created to help meet the needs of students and industry.

In response to the need of industry to have their employees better educated in the use of automation in the areas of operation and maintenance of equipment, NHTI created an Automation Certificate.

The certificate program uses existing credit courses which are rigorous in the engineering technology program. The courses selected comprise a concentration of core classes needed by industry partners to adequately achieve outcomes in the
workplace.

For more information, contact Department Chair Joseph Cunningham, (603) 271-6484, ext. 4416

In response to prospective students who wanted to enter the early childhood education field as soon as possible, NHTI created the Early Childhood Education Entry Level Certificate. The courses meet the education requirements for the State of NH Child Care Licensing Rules for an Associate Teacher in many child care settings and allows students to find entry level employment after completion. The credits earned can be stacked easily with NHTI's other early childhood education programs including its Associate in Science Early Childhood Education degree.

Supporting Our Students
During the past month, the lives of our students have been turned around and nothing is how they thought their Spring semester would be.

With the closing of our residential housing to all but those that are housing insecure and transitioning all teaching to an on-line format, many students faced financial hardships.

We recognized that many students unexpectedly became unemployed, had to quickly transition to a new reality to continue their education, and maybe had to care for members of their family during this time.

As a way to help ease the financial burden that these uncertain times have created, we wanted to provide modest financial assistance (not to exceed $100) to our students for such basic needs as food, gas, childcare, prescriptions & other medical needs, car registrations & inspections, & cell phones.

An email was sent out on March 23rd to all students letting them know of our wish to help and as of the March 31st deadline, we had 217 students seeking financial support. Of these 217 submissions, we were able to provide $9,925 in gift cards to 102 students that were in need of immediate assistance.

However, we still have 108 students looking for short-term assistance during this difficult time. If you would like to help support our students in need, please donate online and choose "NHTI Cares" for where you want your money designated. Thank you for your support.
