Hello Artists and art lovers- Here we are again at the high risk level for Covid-19. It feels like one step forward and two steps back. According to Oregon OSHA, our activities fall within the definition of social gatherings which means we are back to a maximum of six persons. I’m going to take a bit of your time to talk about this topic:
This is from the newly released Oregon Health Authority’s guidance on reopening schools and it has relevance for all of us:
- “You don’t make the timeline. The virus makes the timeline"- Dr. Anthony Faucci.
- Our state will be living with the virus until there is widespread immunity, which is many months off.
- The best tools to protect individuals are physical distancing, face coverings, and hygiene.
-
Every health restriction lifted increases opportunity for transmission and will increase cases.
Your Board of Directors is charged with compliance with the state mandates. We are working on how to accommodate the CAP program, workshops and classes safely. More on this to come.
On a personal note, my husband and I have both gotten shot #1 of the Moderna vaccine and many of you have been vaccinated or will be soon. Thank you. If anyone out there is doubtful, I urge you to contact your health professional and get any of your questions answered.
Now some updates:
The March Second Saturday was a success. David Galchutt’s exhibit is jewel-like and I felt like I was entering a different magical world with each painting. We are very fortunate to have such talent in our little area of the world. Thank you Rachel and the amazing crew for a successful event. My ukulele buddy, John Canalin performed outside, despite the cold. Thank you John!
You’ll note that I always mention volunteering. A big thank you to Sandy Bonney for assuming the Newsletter Coordinator duties and to Leslie Wilkinson for her newsletter work and for bringing Constant Contact to us. Members are the heart of this organization and while we need your financial support via membership dues, we also need your help. Can you commit to a couple of hours a week such as our amazing garden fairies or in the office like our bookkeeper Patty Nance? Do you have PR skills, marketing background or? An hour or two a month also works.
And it’s time to start thinking about becoming a board member for 2021. This is a good way to really get to know PBAA/Manley Art Center! It’s also a good experience.
Don’t forget to add the Festival of Art to your calendar (Aug 7-8). We will need you to help with a variety of things. I’ll be calling you!
We’ll be sending out a general membership meeting Zoom invitation soon for Thursday, April 8 at 11 A.M. See you then.
