WORDS FROM WILL

It’s been said that “Easter is a time of reflection, renewal, and rejoicing in the resurrection of Christ.” May this poem gladden your heart as we prepare to celebrate the life

we have in God through Jesus Christ!

Easter Morning Light

Easter morning wakes the land,

With gentle sun and blossoms grand.

Hope arrives on feathered wings,

In pastel skies, new joy it brings.

The stone is moved, the shadows flee,

Love restores what’s meant to be.

From quiet dawn to songs of cheer,

New life whispers, Hope is here.

♪ SCOTT’S MUSIC NOTES ♫

Hello Trinity Community and Friends,

As we welcome Spring and its signs of new life and growth, I can’t help but see the same transformations in our own faith community. Our church is alive in so many ways and it makes the experience of shared worship worth so much more! We had such meaningful worship experiences in March, in addition to a prosperous Chili Cook-Off!

The music ensembles have also been showing great dedication to preparing music for our weekly services. We are most excited for the Maundy Thursday service on April 2nd at 6:00pm. Everyone is invited to come enjoy an evening Communion, Dramatic Scripture telling, and a 30-minute Cantata called “Colors of Grace: Lessons for Lent”. This will be a one-of-a-kind service you will not want to miss.

Here is a quick look music happenings for the month of April:

  • April 5th - Easter Worship Service with congregational music to support the theme of “Love Always Win”, 2 Special songs from our Voice Choir, and an instrumental surprise for the Prelude.
  • April 12th - Special Music provided by the Hand Bell Choir
  • April 19th - I will be sharing a vocal solo for the Special Music.
  • April 26th - The Low Voice Ensemble will share a new song with us for the Special Music, as well as sing a lively “Amen Benediction” for our Postlude.

For the Song-of-the-Month, I have chosen a song from my younger years at church camp, called “Celebrate, Jesus, Celebrate” by Gary Oliver. It is an energetic simple song with two alternating sections that brings true excitement to the story of Jesus rising from the grave.

You can listen to a version of it HERE. For our “Amen Benediction", I have noticed that our congregation is really starting to sing out with the current one we have been using, #314 in the Chalice Hymnal, so I want us to continue using it and to really let us sing out a joyful noise.

Even with the busy-ness of the Easter Season, we still plan toward the future. I plan to continue the Voice Choir rehearsals after Easter on Sundays at 11:30am. The group will work to prepare one song for a park service in May and two for June. Anyone is welcome to join or just give it a try for a few weeks. Just reach out to me if you are interested!

The Hand Bell Choir rehearsals will also continue after Easter with plans to play 3 more songs before Summer Break. Reach out to Tom Danforth if you are interested in attending a rehearsal.

As always, remember that the power of the church is the people. When we come together for the purpose of God’s work, great things will happen. Music brings people together.

Until We Meet Again,

Trinity Church Rocks with Kindness!

Thank you all for your chili, mac and cheese, American Chop Suey, desserts, impassioned singing, artistic kindness cards, donations to the Honduran Mission Trip, gifts to our award winning chefs, and friendliness to our guests!

Your generosity and spirit, your love made this a special night. Some community members thanked us for this great event which they enjoyed! As a side note, last Wednesday I attended Coffee with the Pastor. For some unknown reason I started a conversation with a couple about our Kindness Event: Chili Cook Off and invited them to come next year!

The woman whom lives in Northborough started to talk about all the wonderful things she has heard about our church. I was very encouraged that more folks in the community are learning more about our church! We shall continue to send our light into the community!

EXTERIOR RESTORATION AND MAINTENANCE TASK FORCE UPDATE

CAPITAL PROJECTS UPDATE

“Crane Day” has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, so that by the time you are reading this in the Tidings, the church spire has likely been lifted by crane from the top of the tower and secured in its cradle in the parking lot.

The sanctuary roof has been reinforced and new stairs have been built in the tower as Phase 1 of the project nears completion.

Jill White of the UCC Church Building & Loan Fund, Trinity’s capital campaign consultant, interviewed several church members in March to gauge the fund-raising potential of the upcoming capital campaign. She was impressed by those she met and optimistic about the possibility of a successful campaign. Her written report is expected in early April.

The Exterior Restoration & Maintenance Task Force is exploring the possibility of financing most or all of a project to insulate the sanctuary and fellowship hall through the Mass Save program and will continue to solicit input from the congregation as to the prioritization of various other capital projects.
