A message from our CEO
Spring is in the air, and at Habitat Heartland we are feeling a renewed sense of excitement for our upcoming projects!

All 9 of our ReStores are open to the public, ready to serve you in-store and online for all your home improvement, decor, and DIY needs! Doing Spring cleaning this month? Don't throw away your new / like-new furniture and home goods - donate to the ReStore and keep your good items out of the landfill! Our stores are following all provincially mandates protocols for remaining open during lockdown, learn more here.

March 25th was the Virtual Key Ceremony for Teagan's family and Shayna's family in St. Thomas! If you missed it streaming live, make sure to watch the video on our Facebook page. Preparations are underway for our next build for 2 local families in Drumbo, and we started an exciting new renovation project in London for Jamie & Jennifer's family! Our Brook Street build in Simcoe has been progressing well thanks to your support, with our build crew and volunteers ready to tackle the interior finishes.

Habitat Heartland is celebrating our volunteers in a special way this April 18 - 24 as part of National Volunteer Week! Keep an eye out for our Volunteer Week content, and if you're interested in volunteering with us, learn more below!

Thank you for your continued support, and stay well!

St. Thomas Virtual Key Ceremony!

To celebrate the completion of our semi-detached build in St. Thomas for Shayna's family & Teagan's family, we held a live streamed Virtual Key Ceremony on our Facebook page! If you missed it live on March 25th, you can still watch here.

The Habitat Heartland team was thrilled to hand the keys over to our newest Habitat homeowners at 92 & 94 Scott Street. Shayna, along with her children Jackson and Jordyn and live-in babysitter Raige will live at 94 Scott Street. Teagan and her son Dante will live at 92 Scott Street.

We were also safely joined on site by Mayor of St. Thomas Joe Preston, St. Thomas City Manager Wendell Graves, Grant MacDonald and Chris Zwicker - Co-chairs St. Thomas Steering Committee, STEHBA Director Scott Sleightholm, as well as a rep from one of our Title Sponsors 94.1 myFM St. Thomas.

This Virtual Key Ceremony was presented by Diamond Hammer sponsor the City of St. Thomas.

All provincially mandated COVID health and safety procedures were followed, and we were happy the community could join us in celebrating virtually!

Team Build Days 2021

Invest in your team while investing in your community! Habitat Heartland's Team Build Day program is the ultimate team building experience - engage your employees and friends by building homes and helping your local community.

Brook Street Build
The siding is up and a new front porch awaits our future Habitat homeowners Sharon, Russ and Krysten!

As progress continues on completing the exterior of our Brook Street build in Simcoe, Norfolk County, the Habitat Heartland Brant-Norfolk build crew and volunteers will turn their focus inside.

Keep up with the progress on our social media pages to get an “inside peek”! We can’t wait to reveal more, especially as our future homeowners safely join our build crew and volunteers to help build their home.

Culver Drive Renovation Project
In March, we began work on a renovation project at a semi-detached home on Culver Drive in London that was very generously donated to Habitat Heartland!

This renovation project is an exciting new way that Habitat Heartland is helping local families achieve affordable homeownership in an efficient and environmentally sustainable way.

Culver Drive will soon be home to Jamie & Jennifer's family! Special thanks to all our build volunteers for your support throughout this project - we couldn't do it without you.

We are safely welcoming groups to our build sites for Build Days, and booking for 2021! Contact us for more information on our current Build Day procedure and to register your group

Meet Our Team

Tracey - Regional ReStore Manager, Habitat Heartland Ontario

"Don't lift what you can't"... Obviously, you would not be able to lift something you can’t, but it also reminds us that we can’t do everything alone. It takes a team or a community, who have a common goal, to come together and support each other to reach the final outcome. This is what I see in our merger between Brant-Norfolk and Heartland Ontario."

Habitat Heartland amalgamated with Habitat Brant-Norfolk!

We are thrilled to have amalgamated with Habitat Brant Norfolk! We will now work together as one Habitat Heartland Ontario to build strength, stability, and self-reliance in Brantford and the counties of Brant, Elgin, Middlesex, Norfolk, Oxford & Perth.

Rita and Omar’s bioclimatic Habitat home
There was a time when Rita couldn’t picture a better future for her family.

They lived on the slopes of the San Miguel volcano, known locally as Chaparrastique, in one of the hottest regions of Central America. The extreme temperatures there often negatively affect health, nutrition and overall quality of life. Heightening that harsh reality, Rita, her husband, Omar, and their daughters lived in a structure made of tin sheets, plastic and blankets, a space that lacked electricity and access to drinking water.

Since partnering with Habitat for Humanity, things have changed. Rita and Omar now live in the sturdy, affordable home they built with Habitat for Humanity El Salvador. This bioclimatic home relies on wind, vegetation, the sun and even the heat to reduce their energy needs and costs.

Build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership for a local family today,
