Insect Insights: Bee Flies

"It’s not a bee, and it doesn’t look like a typical fly, but this pom-pom on wings is certainly in the running for cutest insect.


Bombylius genus flies carry a formidable, un-retractable needle-like organ in front of their head. But it’s not a stinger or a weapon of any sort. It’s a bodily straw used only to sip nectar."

Thanks to your generosity, so far this year we've distributed 72 sponsored family memberships! Folks directly sponsor family memberships, and then we distribute them through other local organizations who connect the passes with families they work with.

Earth Day

Saturday, April 26th 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM


Come celebrate Earth Day with us at Mount Pisgah Arboretum!


We'll have work parties for all ages and abilities, wildflower walks, crafts and nature education activities, tree climbing for kids provided by Tree Climbing Eugene, and more! And to top it all off, a light lunch when the fun wraps up.


The whole event is free and family friendly, mark your calendars!

"Resiliency in Nature" - We can learn a lot from how ecosystems and species adapt and react to events. Join us as we examine resiliency through human and nature-focused themes throughout the different habitats of the Arboretum.
