Volunteer Update
April 30, 2019
|
|
April is Volunteer Appreciation Month ... and we appreciate you!
|
|
And the award goes to ... CRC volunteers!
This is National Volunteer Appreciation Month and we would like thank all of our incredible volunteers. Last year, you donated
34,000 hours
to support and further our mission to end hunger, homelessness and domestic violence in our community. There are many different opportunities to volunteer, and we are grateful that you have chosen CRC!

Congratulations to our April Volunteer of the Month: Sol Rhumbo
Our April Volunteer of the Month is student Sol Rhumbo, who volunteers at our San Marcos Resale Store. Mary Cunningham, the store manager says, "This young lady is always happy, she has a great personality and is very positive. Sol is always willing to go that extra mile to help me with the task at hand. She rides the bus here and sometimes walks to make it here on time. Then she leaves CRC at 1:00 pm to go to school. What dedication she has in her heart!”
Congratulations Sol! You are an inspiration to us and we are so grateful for your work in our Resale Stores!

Painting Projects
Our transitional housing provides a safe home to families healing from domestic violence. When a family moves out, our volunteer crews come in to refresh the space to ensure that the new residents have a dignified and healthy experience during their time with CRC. Thank you to the team of volunteers who helped paint the spaces, led by Adriana Bade:
|
|
Painting Day 1 - Adriana and David Bade (and their children), Chuck Buss, Leanne and Greg LaPorte, Kylie Reiter, Scott and Deanna Wittman.
|
|
Painting Day 2 - David, Adriana & Cameron Bade, Ron Papa, Peter & Dominique Jek and Rashaad Forehand. Thank you to volunteers from the
San Diego Track Club's Boston team
for joining us!

On Saturday, April 27
th
the Rancho Santa Fe Rotary Club braved the Saturday crowds at the Encinitas Street Fair to paint our Integrative Services offices. Thank you for the beautiful paint job that brightened our offices!
Do you love to cut-in, tape-off, roll and brush? CRC has one more painting project and could use YOUR help! Perfect for just 1-3 people. Contact

Planting Seeds of Hope
Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who helped make our recent
English Tea
possible! More than 100 people planned, decorated, prepared food, served, set up, took photos, worked the auction and raffle, cleaned up and more. CRC was able to highlight the work we do in the community and in the lives of men and women escaping domestic violence – providing safety, compassion, and HOPE. We raised significant funds to further our work to help those who are hungry, homeless and hurting in our community. This event would not happen without the dedication and hearts of service that our volunteers bring!

More Ways to Get Involved

Domestic Violence Advocate Training
Registration is now open for CRC’s
40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate Training
taking place in May/June 2019. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics, prevalence and facts about domestic violence and its impact on adults, youth, children and our communities. Through lectures, films and interactive engagement, participants will learn from many subject experts in the domestic violence field - including survivors of violence who will share their experiences and insights. This training is designed for those who work with victims and survivors of domestic violence but is open to all adults who wish to broaden their knowledge.
