Attestation Forms Open April 1

New Wellness Program Incentive Category

Those who are Monthly Wellness Incentive recipients (meaning you are using one of the university's medical insurance plans and completed the Health Risk Assessment and two of the other specified wellness activities within the qualifying period) and are working toward the additional $100-$200 Wellness Program Incentive can begin attesting to program completion in HCM on April 1, 2023.

Participants must complete the attestation form within HCM to certify their active participation in a program(s) that met the university’s participation guidelines and also must have documentation of their participation available should we ever need to audit incentive recipients.

The attestation form can be found within the Wellness Tile at case.edu/hcm. Visit this page for a step-by-step guide on how to attest in HCM. Programs must be successfully completed, and attestation submitted by November 30, 2023, for the employee to receive the program incentive in their final December 2023 paycheck.

Introducing the General Wellness Incentive Program Category!

Health and wellness are critical components of overall well-being and can make a significant difference in the length and quality of peoples’ lives. Enhancing the overall wellness of benefits-eligible faculty and staff is a core value of the CWRU Wellness Program and has been identified by Gallup as a critical factor to enhance work performance, productivity, morale and engagement, and to reduce illness and turnover.

For these reasons and more, we are excited to announce that there is a new Wellness Program Incentive category - General Wellness! Participating in a university-based general wellness program over a multi-week period (attending at least 85% of sessions over a minimum of 8 weeks) is necessary to be eligible for a program incentive in the General Wellness category. Series topics that would fit into this new category include Eldercare, Environmental Health, Women’s Health, Men’s Health, and more.

Stay tuned, as we will continue to add new programs in this category! Reach out if you have questions.

Mental Health Matters

Mental health is critical for optimal daily functioning, yet the last few years have led many to experience diminished mental well-being. Mental Health Matters is a 9-session series focusing on various mental health topics, from managing personal challenges to helping your team thrive. This series is presented in partnership with Impact Solutions and Courage to Caregivers.

For those who are Monthly Wellness Incentive recipients: Participate in at least 7 of the 9 sessions of Mental Health Matters and attest to completion in HCM no later than Nov. 30 to earn a $100 Wellness Program Incentive in the Stress Management category.

Upcoming Nutrition Programs

We are teaming up with our CWRU community to bring you nutrition programming in April and May! The sessions "Balanced Nutrition for All" and "Nutritious Foods and Where to Find Them" are a collaboration between the Wellness Program and University Health and Counseling Services. The presenters are CWRU students seeking a degree in nutrition, so attend one or both sessions to show them your support and provide feedback! These two sessions are open to faculty, staff, and students.

Once that series ends, employees can jump into Nutrition 101 for a deeper dive on how to fuel your body to support your overall health with CWRU's Director of Bionutrition Research, Alicia Thomas.

Balanced Nutrition for All + Nutritious Foods and Where to Find Them

Perhaps you know how to eat nutritiously but wonder how this way of eating can fit into your budget or your busy schedule. This 2-part Zoom series, presented by CWRU students from the Nutrition program, will take you back to the basics.

Seasons of Self-Care: Spring

Explore the year through a delightful set of seasonal signals. Engage in a powerful antidote to burn-out, compassion fatigue, and mounting distress. Experience methods that are timeless, yet contemporary. Be guided by your natural connection to the purpose, wisdom, and rhythms of nature, as you create your own set of seasonal practices.

The Seasons of Self-Care program with Heidi Weiker launched earlier this year with Seasons of Self-Care: Winter. Whether you are a returning participant or could use a pick-me-up for spring and will be joining for the first time, we invite you to participate in Seasons of Self-Care: Spring. Tuesdays, 12-1 pm, May 2-23.

This 4-session iteration of the program will be delivered in a hybrid format, meaning you choose whether you want to participate in person with Heidi at the TVUC or via Zoom. Use the registration links to the right to register according to your preference.

Monthly Wellness Incentive recipients seeking a Stress Management Wellness Program Incentive would need to participate in at least two iterations of the Seasons program.

The CWRU Wellness Program offers a wide variety of programs and services throughout the year with the goal of enhancing the health and well-being of all benefits-eligible faculty and staff at the university. Through a combination of powerful lifestyle change programming and incentives, the Wellness team strives to create compelling behavior change and learning experiences that improve participants' level of wellness, thereby positively impacting their work and personal lives. We work hard to meet participant needs and rely on biennial surveys to gather feedback. We appreciate you taking a few minutes to provide your comments and suggestions related to the CWRU Wellness program.

Join our Team as a Wellness Champion!

Do you share messages about well-being and university wellness programs with fellow CWRU employees? If so, you should consider joining our team as a Wellness Champion!

CWRU Wellness Champions, also known as Wellness Champs, are faculty and staff representatives who promote wellness opportunities among their department, colleagues, and friends at the university. Characteristics of a Wellness Champion include enthusiasm, the ability to bring wellness to life at the departmental level, consistent access to email, and a willingness to ask questions and share ideas.

If this sounds like you, learn more about this opportunity on the Wellness Champions web page. From there, you can meet your current Wellness Champs and apply to become a Wellness Champion.

Learn more about Meetings on the Move

In Case You Missed It:

Meetings on the Move at CWRU

A study released in 2017 noted that sedentary work leads to adverse health outcomes and coined the phrase “sitting is the new smoking." Active/walking meetings can help break up periods of prolonged sitting. At CWRU, such meetings may have personal benefits as well as contribute to improved organizational outcomes.

At the Employee Appreciation event earlier this month, the Wellness Team introduced a walking meeting button/lanyard combination and shared an infographic about walking meetings. We have coined this initiative "Meetings on the Move" and we hope you will join us in making this part of the culture at CWRU. Use the link to the left to learn more, and email Deanna at dxd516@case.edu to request buttons/lanyards for your team.
