As a best selling author of over 100 romance novels, Krissie Ohlrogge (who writes as Anne Stuart) has an insider's perspective on some of the best the genre has to offer. She'll be dropping by from time to time to share her favorite romance novels and novelists with us!
The Devil’s Daughter
is a delightful cross-over between the Wallflower series and the Ravenels. There’s no need to read any of the previous books, but they’re all fun. This one is light, amusing, deliciously sexy, with a young widowed mother trying to break free of her staid and controlling inlaws with the help of her husband’s childhood enemy. The characters are relatable - the bad boy hero is a hard-working manager of his brother’s estate, not an effete lord, and the widow is doing her best to raise her two charming young children. There’s a nice twist when the hero, who believes he’s not worthy of love, avoids there heroine, and she’s the one who deliberately seduces him and wins him. The dialogue around their first kiss is laugh out loud, and the entire book is a treat.
Lisa Kleypas is always good, but my absolute favorite of her older books is
Mine Till Midnight
, with a gypsy hero and a starchy heroine. Just yummy, but you can’t go wrong with any of them.
