NUMEROUS SENATORS STOOD UP
FOR FARM ANIMALS

On Tuesday, April 16, several Senators took to the floor of the State Senate to oppose SB 391 which would have overturned laws protecting farm animals. Due to the strident opposition on the part of these dedicated Senators, SB 391 was never called for a vote on Tuesday.
WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP ON THIS ISSUE
SB 391 could come back up for a vote later in the Session.
We need to ensure SB 391 is soundly defeated.

Please contact these Senators and THANK THEM for standing up in opposition to SB 391:
Senator Mike Cierpiot
(573) 751-1464
Senator Karla May
(573) 751-3599

HUMANE DAY AT THE CAPITOL
On Tuesday, April 9, numerous organizations and animal welfare advocates visited the Capitol Building on Humane Day. We can't over-emphasize how much the animal welfare movement has been advanced by ALL of you. The more advocates present at Humane Day, the stronger the impression that we are a united voice for the voiceless. Never doubt that spending just a few minutes with a legislator can have a lasting, resonating effect.

We are grateful to our fellow animal welfare partners too - those organizations throughout Missouri who fight the tough fights every day. We stood together shoulder to shoulder in the third floor Rotunda, a powerful testament to our unity on animal welfare:

Missouri State Humane Association (MoSHA)
Humane Society Legislative Fund of Missouri
Humane Society of the United States
Missouri Animal Control Association (MACA)
Humane Society of Missouri's Education Department (HSMO)
Five Acres Animal Shelter
The Spay Neuter Project
The Gentle Barn
Animal Protective Association of Missouri (APA Adoption Center)
St. Charles County Pet Adoption Center
HSMO's Animal Cruelty Task Force (ACTF)
Call to Action - Be Their Voice

We deeply appreciate the time each of these organizations took to be with us and to represent our animals and our advocates - and we are grateful to you, our Alliance supporters, for traveling to the Capitol on Humane Day, stopping by our table and the tables of our fellow organizations, and for meeting with your legislators and boldly stating your position on proposed bills this year. Your support and your continued efforts to champion the basic humane treatment of animals lifts us up and carries us through these legislative sessions and beyond.

 2019 MOST INFLUENTIAL NAVIGATORS
"It takes a special kind of political operative to know the waters and measure the sky when it comes to monitoring, killing, and passing legislation. If these people are in the room, you know something is about to go down."

That's how the Missouri Times article begins its list of our state's most influential people when it comes to legislation. And the Alliance is thrilled to share that Alliance Executive Director Bob Baker is ON THE LIST! We could not be more proud that he has been recognized.
