100% Tax Deductible Business Dining Expenses
for Next 2 Years!
The Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), signed into law on December 27, 2020 as part of Covid relief, includes a temporary provision that allows 100% tax deductions for any meal expenses incurred as a part of doing business from now until December 31, 2022. A significant increase from the 50% deduction previously provided, this new provision is designed to cultivate business transactions while supporting restaurants during one of the toughest times in history to be in the hospitality industry.
Restaurateurs Brian & Karen Zecchinelli of the Wayside Restaurant, Bakery & Creamery are excited to share and take advantage of this new piece of legislation that many are unaware exists. "It's a win-win for both sides," says Zecchinelli. "Any carrot that can entice our valued customers to dine out more often, we'll take it," he said.
Click here for the full press release featuring the Wayside Restaurant.
For more information on this provision, including requirements for deductibility, click here.

Save The Date - Summit on the Future of Vermont
Building a Foundation for the Next Generation
May 26 & 27, 1-5pm, Virtual
What actions should we take now, in this transformational historical moment, to ensure the brightest future for our state? On May 26th & 27th, join us for a statewide conversation about our collective future. The Summit on the Future of Vermont will bring Vermonters together virtually to consider the The Vermont Proposition, a framework drawn from the input of thousands of Vermonters that lays out a set of bold and transformational goals for our state's economy, people and environment by mid-century, and a non-partisan, multi-sector platform of action to achieve them.
The Summit will include plenaries and fishbowls, small group discussion and brainstorming sessions, and opportunities for networking. Participants will consider each part of the Proposition, share strategies, build potential actions, and begin to engage in partnership for the future of Vermont. Barre Opera House
The Second Century Campaign
There's Still Time to Sponsor A Seat!
When the Covid-19 virus hit in March, The Barre Opera House's regular programming and, consequently, all its revenue streams came to a screeching halt. So, too, did fundraising their capital campaign, which was to be completed by April 2021, in order to begin work in the summer. Projects included repainting the theater, replacing antiquated rigging system and installing new seating. Despite having to raise the remaining third of the $1 million needed, the Opera House got down to business and began project work in early spring of last year. They are now at 90% of their campaign fundraising goal and, at this point, are relying on the generosity of their patrons - folks like you who value their shows and use the theater - to carry them to the finish line. We hope you will help! Donors who contribute $350+ will have the opportunity to have their names or the name of another designee engraved on a brass plaque on one of their new seats! Click here for more information and to make your donations today!
