Members Only Eggs-stra-ordinary Easter Event

Join us for this exclusive Lynn Meadows Discovery Center Member's Only special event. Sorry members, no egg-hunt this year due to COVID, BUT we will have:

• Easter Bunny mask-making & Easter egg-weaving
• Egg in a spoon and potato-sack relay races
• Museum play
• Guess how many jelly beans are in the jar (and you just might win the whole jar)!
• A special Easter basket drawing
• Prize tickets redeemable during the event
• AND of course a visit from everyones favorite floppy-eared, furry friend - the Easter Bunny! (photo-op available)

Lynn Meadows Discovery Center offers several great programs developed especially for Girl Scouts. Scouts can participate in fun-filled workshops designed to address achievements while providing authentic hands-on learning. Our popular workshops capture the true Girl Scout spirit! 
Sensory Sundays

Sensory Sundays is an exclusive event for children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or sensory challenges. Sensory Sundays are every second Sunday and admission is free for all attendees
thanks to Gulf Coast Community Foundation - Anthony Dartez Education Fund.
 
Earth Day

All activities are included with museum admission.

We are celebrating Earth Day at LMDC with some special guests from our community who will teach us why our Earth is so special and why we need to take special care of it.

Special guests include: Audubon Mississippi, Ms. Space Consortium graduate fellows, NOAA, author, Perry Guy, Whisper of Hope.
Homeschool at LMDC
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center offers homeschool classes including STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) topics. We offer a hands-on, minds-on STEAM based learning experience specialized for homeschool students. Perfect for ages 7-10, this programming gives your student a chance to experience LMDC in a whole new way!

Discover Earth and Space

Earth and Space Exploration: Space the final frontier! We will be conducting “hands-on” activities to learn about the Earth Science and Space exploration. Some of these activities will be based on kits from The National Informal Education Network (NISE) in conjuction with our “Sun Earth Universe Exhibit”.

Discover Art

Calling all young Picassos. Join us for a hands-on discovery of some of the World’s most famous artists. We will learn about the artist, what made them famous, and what makes them different from other artists. We will explore and learn some of their techniques, while creating your very own masterpiece.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.”

Recommended for all ages!
Seating will be socially distanced. We will follow state guidelines and modify our event, as necessary to ensure our guests’ safety.
 
Get Your Hands Dirty Earth Day
Cooking Class
Friday, April 30 6pm - 7:30pm
$11.25 members / $12.50 non-members

Join us in the Viking Kitchen as we close out the month of April to celebrate Earth Day with a “Get Your Hands Dirty” Cooking Class. You will be playing with your food while making Earth Day Edibles and learning about the life cycle of a butterfly.

Earth Day Menu includes: Corn Dog Caterpillar & Butterfly, Worm and Dirt Crumble, and Bug juice. Be ready to get your hands dirty!

Discovery Days
Discovery Days is special programming that takes place on selected dates in the museum. They are free and included with museum admission. Storytimes, special art projects and science activities are examples of Discovery Days.
