Gaza & Lebanon Fundraiser

Sunday, April 19 | 2:00–5:00 PM

Harissa Mediterranean Cuisine

2255 NE 65th St, Seattle 98115

Join us at Harissa Mediterranean Cuisine to support the people of Gaza and Lebanon!

The people of Gaza continue to face an unprecedented humanitarian crisis marked by widespread displacement, unsafe shelter, limited access to clean water, and ongoing violence that places civilians—especially children—at constant risk. Despite intermittent ceasefire periods, airstrikes, shelling, and extensive damage to infrastructure persist, leaving families without reliable medical care, safe housing, or sufficient food and water. Humanitarian aid remains a lifeline for millions struggling to survive.

At the same time, communities across Lebanon are enduring heightened instability following recent attacks in Beirut and in the south of the country. These escalations have deepened an already severe economic and social crisis, leaving many families without access to critical resources, healthcare, or safe living conditions. SCM and our clinic in Sidon remain among the few organizations still operating on the ground, providing essential aid at a time when support is more urgently needed than ever.

Join us for an afternoon of culture, community, and compassion as we come together to raise funds for relief efforts in Gaza and Lebanon. Enjoy live music performances by Egyptian musicians George Sadak on tabla and Omar Haggag on oud. Award-winning belly dancer and instructor Mariana (Redmond) will perform Raks Sharki, while Qabila Dance Co. brings to life folkloric Saidi dance from the villages of Egypt. Zaphara will lead a traditional wedding procession, skillfully balancing a candelabra on her head.

Walid Alabtan will serve seven delicious Middle Eastern appetizers for all guests to enjoy, and you’ll have the opportunity to browse and bid in our silent auction featuring beautiful Middle Eastern garments, jewelry, and other unique items.

All proceeds from this event will directly support humanitarian relief efforts for the people of Gaza and Lebanon. Space is limited to 100 tickets—be sure to secure yours soon.

We look forward to sharing this meaningful afternoon with you.

April is Arab Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of Arab communities. At Salaam Cultural Museum (SCM), this celebration continues year‑round through programs that highlight Arab heritage within the broader MENA experience and foster cross‑cultural understanding in the Pacific Northwest.

SCM brings Arab traditions to life through education, arts and culture, youth programs, and community events, along with a speakers’ bureau and access to rare cultural artifacts. Its impact is strengthened by partner initiatives, including Seattle‑based Cune Press, which amplifies underrepresented voices through publishing, and Caravan Serai Tours, which offers immersive cultural travel across the MENA region.

SCM’s mission also includes humanitarian work through SCM Medical Missions, delivering aid to communities affected by conflict and supporting refugee families in Washington State.

This Arab Heritage Month, SCM invites the community to discover, connect, and celebrate Arab heritage through learning, storytelling, travel, and service.
