Sexual Assault Awareness Month

According to the 2020 Alaska Victimization Survey, more than 40% of women in Alaska are sexually assaulted at some point in their lives. When expanded to include coerced and unwanted sexual activity, the numbers jump up to more than 75%. Many victims don't get the support they need, and no one should have to deal with this alone. KWRCC can help. Call the Kodiak Crisis Line anonymously for confidential support anytime.

Choose Respect March

Once again, our community stepped up and marched out to show that Kodiak Chooses Respect. We just want to say Thank You to everyone who marched, made signs, shared in the social media challenge, and otherwise supported the message that the people of Kodiak do not tolerate sexual or domestic violence. We want to thank Java Flats, Harborside Coffee, and Safeway for donating delicious snacks, and we are especially grateful for our partners at the Kodiak Area Native Association, Sun'aq Tribe of Kodiak, Public Health, the Kodiak Island Borough School District, the Kodiak Police Department, and the Alaska State Troopers for making this event possible.

April 22nd is Earth Day!

As we work to create a culture of respect so all people can enjoy a life free from domestic violence and sexual assault, we also have to make sure to include respecting our environment. How we do anything is how we do everything! Treating our surroundings with care and respect is part of how we treat one another.

How can you take the time to show respect this Earth Day?
