Celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Month!

The work of JFS of Greenwich is truly unique, given the breadth of services we provide to vulnerable individuals across Connecticut. At the heart of every high quality, accessible program is a team of the most compassionate people on earth—our volunteers.

I recently spoke with a volunteer about our early days resettling Afghan nationals who escaped unimaginable trauma in their home country. This was no ordinary volunteer experience. They were creating safe homes for displaced families, escorting pregnant mothers to their first prenatal appointments with modern medical care, and accompanying children to their first day of school in the U.S. Like so many JFS volunteer roles, these moments were deeply personal for both the clients and the volunteers.

One month is not enough to celebrate our ever-growing team of volunteers. Their selfless acts of kindness, repeated thousands of times over, elevate every program. I have endless respect and gratitude for those who choose to give their time so generously to improve the lives of others.

To our extraordinary volunteers—thank you for the dignity and compassion with which you support our beloved clients. Your kindness makes the world a better place.

With immense gratitude,

Rachel Kornfeld, CEO, JFS of Greenwich

Refugee Shabbat at Greenwich Reform Synagogue

Greenwich Reform Synagogue hosted its annual Refugee Shabbat, with our CEO, Rachel Kornfeld, as the keynote speaker. She shared the vital work of JFS, assisting refugees in our community, and highlighting the challenges they face in rebuilding their lives.

Rabbi Gerson encouraged attendees to support local refugee resettlement efforts and emphasized the importance of showing up for neighbors in need. The event served as a reminder of our collective responsibility to help refugees and make a difference in their lives.
