APRIL 2020
Back in January, we were really excited about an annual tradition we call “Hit for the Animals”. What we do on this occasion is donate whatever court rental proceeds we receive between 10:30 am - 2 pm to the On Angels Wings pet rescue in Crystal Lake. Well, Mother Nature’s sense of humor showed itself on that Saturday in January and here we are in April with a makeup date. Won’t you join us in taking care of some sweet, deserving animal friends? All you have to do is play tennis!
Racket Club staff was honored to be awarded "Exceptional Community Partner" this month by Northern Illinois Special Rec Association. Our pros give their whole hearts teaching eager students with special needs, particularly Conni Stinek & Andrew Graczyk. One of the ceremony’s presenters stated that “teamwork makes the dream work”, which of course is applicable in our case…but let’s not forget that every team has its MVP, and Andrew has surely earned that honor with the work he puts in every week to lead this program!

This season’s last Men’s Singles Scramble will be May 1, so there’s still time to gain ground. Look out, Bob -- Zeljko’s nipping at your heels!
Once upon a quaint little time, our society passed around paper-based gift certificates, the Racket Club being no exception. (Do any of our players born after the turn of the century even know what we’re referring to?) The Crystal Lake Park District has updated accounting software which does not recognize the paper certificate. So if you’re sitting on an old paper certificate, be sure to stop into the Administration Building (1 E Crystal Lake Avenue) during business hours to exchange your paper certificate for a plastic card. We have changed the deadline since all buildings are closed during Shelter-In-Home Executive Order has been placed. If they are not exchanged by September 1, the Park District will deem it unclaimed property through the State of Illinois and it will be null and void.
