Angst: Community Speaker Series
Documentary Film and Discussion held April 17 - Save the Date for another showing on May 14!
The final of the three 2018-19 Community Speaker Series events,  "Angst: A New Documentary Film Raising Awareness Around Anxiety " was held April 17. This event featured a screening of the 43-minute film and a discussion with Dr. John Duffy.
The film features candid interviews with kids and young adults who suffer, or have suffered, from anxiety and what they've learned about it. The film includes discussion with mental health experts about the causes of anxiety and its sociological effects, as well as help, resources and tools for parents and educators. D181 Superintendent Dr. Hector Garcia introduced the film.
"It's important for our school communities to openly discuss the effect anxiety has on our students," he said. Due to positive feedback and popular demand, the documentary will be made available for viewing again at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, at Hinsdale Middle School, as the District's #OnTheTable community discussion event. Parents, community members and students (recommended only for age 10 and above) are welcome to attend. Email invite with more information to follow!
