No Place Like Home: Self-paced online class, April 2 - 19
When we bring a parrot into our lives, from parakeets to macaws, we are offering them a place to call home. What does home mean? For a parrot it might mean a place to be safe, be healthy, have a sense of family, and be provided positive opportunities to live and thrive. This class will address what each of these means to a bird, and give you some ideas about how to continue providing the good life for your bird. This class satisfies our adoption process class requirement. In order for applicants to receive credit for the class, all activities must be completed and turned in.

Mind, Body, and Spirit of Parrots: A Virtual Wellness Retreat

Let's learn more about some of the aspects of parrots that likely draw us to them with this great lineup of speakers! Dr. Todd Driggers will talk about wing anatomy, flight, and a new style of wing clip (if you must clip wings). Dr. Richard Burdeaux will discuss feather destructive behavior with parrots. Behaviorist Pam Clark will share insights concerning our body language around birds, and how it may influence a parrot's behavior. Heidi Hellmuth will look deeper at wild behavior in parrots, and provide insights into enriching their lives in captivity based on that.

Registration fee: $35
Recordings will be available for a limited time afterwards to registered attendees.

Phoenix Landing: 21 years, 3100+ parrots
We'd love YOUR adoption story!
April 20, 2021 is Phoenix Landing's 21st birthday! In March, we also had the 3100th parrot enter our adoption program. We hope to be around for many more birthdays, so as to keep helping parrots and their people! We appreciate the many volunteers and supporters who have made this possible. By working together, we help more parrots. Thank you!
Share your adoption story and update!
If you have adopted a parrot from Phoenix Landing, help us celebrate 21 years by sending an update about your bird and how s/he is doing! Please include a picture or short video clip when possible: alumni@phoenixlanding.org. As a bonus, consider holding a sign in the picture (or ask your bird to hold it) with your bird's name and the year s/he was adopted. Please include in the email if we do NOT have permission to share the picture or video on social media or in a celebratory video.

Near Asheville, NC? Want to volunteer at the adoption center?
Are you interested in making some new feathered friends at the Phoenix Landing adoption center? If you are local to the Asheville area, consider joining our onsite volunteer team! We are now on-boarding new volunteers, with measures in place to protect your health and safety.
Onsite volunteers are vital to ensuring that the birds at our adoption center are healthy, clean, fed, and enriched each day! If bird care isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other opportunities for volunteers onsite. Maybe you’re handy with maintenance or construction, or you enjoy getting outdoors and doing yard work? Maybe toy making or organizing supplies is your specialty?
No matter what your interests or talents might be, dedicated people like you are critical in supporting the Phoenix Landing campus.
