GMOs have been in the American Food Supply since 1996. We were and still are the soft targets. We never had a chance to say "NO" because we were clueless. We were never asked nor informed that GMOs had entered our food supply like thieves in the night to steal our health and our well being. We've been eating them for 20 YEARS! And still we haven't been able to get them labeled resulting in our remaining right where we started--CLUELESS victims of the Biotech corporations!

Just writing this is making me mad--mad that we Americans who pride ourselves in being the most advanced nation in the world with the most representative government and civil rights for our people, are still, after 20 freaking years, helpless subjects of a dangerous, unscientific, genetically engineered food experiment and subjects of the Biotechs. Quite frankly, it's embarrassing. 

Not only that, but we're allowing our U. S. State Department to use our tax dollars to pay for the promotion of those same Frankenstein Biotech companies to the rest of the world's populations, which have not been soft targets like us.

And here's why the Europeans weren't easy targets.

Arpad and his team were the only people in the world who knew the truth about the dangers of GMOs; and he was invited to be interviewed on the popular British News Program, World In Action. Would he warn the British people about the GMO foods they were already eating? His conscience couldn't allow him to hold his tongue, but he softened his findings considerably by saying: The effect of the experimental GMO potatoes on rats "was slight growth retardation and an effect on the immune system. One of the genetically modified potatoes, after 110 days, made rats less responsive to immune effects." Then he added the following statement: "We are assured that: This is absolutely safe. We can eat it all the time. We must eat it all the time. There is no conceivable harm which can come to us. But, as a scientist looking at it, actively working on the field, I find that it is very, very unfair to use our fellow citizens as guinea pigs. We have to find the guinea pigs in the laboratory."

At that point, all hell broke lose. Arpad was accused of being sinile and confused. He lost his job at the Rowett Institute along with his reputation and credibility, and the Rowett Institute went into cover-up mode spewing lies about Arpad's research while he was placed on a gag order. 

Then along came a move by the House of Lords committee. They wanted the Rowett Institutes Director, Professor Phillip James, to send his evidence against Arpad for evaluation and to testify before them. Professor James knew Arpad would be given the opportunity to defend himself, so he reluctantly sent him some of his confiscated data. After seeing the rigorous and meticulously collected data by Arpad and his team, the House of Lords committee created a scientific panel that exonerated Arpad stating that: "although some of the results are preliminary, they are sufficient to exonerate Dr. Pusztai by showing that the consumption of GMO potatoes by rats led to significant difference in organ weight and depression of lymphocyte [immune] responsiveness compared to controls." The panel of scientists also called for a moratorium on the sale of genetically modified crops. 

This entire story from beginning to end, made headlines in British and EU Newspapers causing growing public suspicion of the safety of GMO crops while a complete black out of the incident and the entire subject of GMOs was happening in the U.S. 

Real research was finally able to trump the fake Biotech company research charade. That's how Europeans became hard targets for the GMO pushers and the U.S. remain their soft targets. And that's why 38 Countries have banned GMO crops. Out of the 38 Countries, 28 are European Countries which include Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Malta, Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, Russia, Serbia, Croatia, Italy, Denmark, Hungary, Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Poland, Slovenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luxembourg, Ukraine, Norway and Switzerland. The other ten Countries include Algeria, Madagascar, Turkey, Kygyzstan, Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, Belize, Peru, Ecuador and Venezuela. "The State Department has lobbied against efforts to require labeling of biotech foods. About one out of eight biotech cables (11.6 percent) from 42 nations between 2005 and 2009 addressed biotech-labeling requirements." 

"The United States [along with Canada and Argentina] successfully challenged the EU's biotech approval rules and EU member states' unwillingness to approve GE (read GMO) crops at the World Trade Organization (WTO). The State Department aggressively pressed the EU to comply with the WTO ruling by weakening its biotech rules."

"The State Department approach to agricultural develop- ment must put the interests of other countries before the interests of the biotech seed companies. All nations have the right to establish their own priorities for food and agriculture policies, as well as the ability to grow what the public wants in order to feed itself. The United States should work with other nations to develop the policies and objectives that they want to pursue and let the biotech seed industry handle its own public relations."
