Operation Recess

Aquila PTO is proud to once again sponsor Operation Recess from Pros of the Rope! On Mondays this fall, Coach Jonny will lead interested students in collaborative, team-building, and inclusive activities during recess. Operation Recess is made possible by generous donations to Aquila Gives and a grant from Park Public Schools & Community Foundation.

Fifth graders Safwan, Lydia, Selah, Mahamed, and Saif were the All-Stars this week, achieving 10 consecutive jumps with five jumpers in a single rope!

First graders Aubreana, Jayce, and Seraphina worked as a team to master

the single rope challenge!

Indigenous Peoples' Day (Monday, October 9, 2023) honors and recognizes the rich history, culture, and contributions of Native American and Indigenous peoples.

This past year, the state of Minnesota took a commendable step towards promoting cultural understanding and inclusivity by passing new legislation related to Indigenous Peoples' Day in schools. This legislation represents a great opportunity for us to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultures, traditions, and histories of Indigenous peoples; while building respect and cultural awareness.

The learning on Indigenous Peoples Day, and throughout the year, values and acknowledges Indigenous peoples' invaluable contributions to our collective heritage. We have a long way to go AND our understanding, appreciation, and cultural awareness have long been part of our mission as International Baccalaureate (IB) Schools in the St. Louis Park School District.
