New benefit launch: Free peer support services for all Colorado physicians and med students

Many physicians having workplace or situational concerns would benefit from true peer-to-peer support from a physician well-being expert. Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society endorses the CMS / CPHP-launched Doc2Doc Wellbeing Consulting. to provide pre-clinical assistance to any Colorado physician, resident/fellow, or medical student without lengthy documentation or extensive evaluation.

Call 720-810-9131 for any concern -- stress, a relationship issue, poor outcome -- and schedule a confidential follow-up with a physician trained in psychiatry (in person, via video, or by phone). Don't wait until a problem gets too big. Utilize these free peer consultation sessions whenever you need them!

AMA launches educational resources to help physicians meet the new DEA - 8-hour training requirement

The American Medical Association developed a new resource on the AMA Ed Hub™ to help physicians and other practitioners complete the new, one-time eight-hour training requirement issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders. The landing page will serve as a one-stop shop to make the process as easy as possible for DEA-registered physicians and practitioners to earn the required Continuing Medical Education (CME).

By completing this CME early, starting on June 27, 2023, physicians will be able to simply check a box on their DEA registration application or renewal form indicating that they have satisfied this training requirement. The free courses offered on the AMA Ed Hub™ page can be taken in any combination to fulfill the eight-hour requirement. The training does not have to occur in one session. Past training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders can also count towards this requirement

We need you! ADEMS Board of Directors open seat

The Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society (ADEMS) Board of Directors is seeking new member participants on our Board of Directors to fill an open member-at-large seat. ADEMS serves as an advocate to its approximate 800 physician members (PCPs & SPCs) living and/or working in the counties we serve. ADEMS is not for profit and is a component organization of the Colorado Medical Society. ADEMS proudly partners with the six area hospitals (Porter, Littleton, Swedish, Sky Ridge, Parker, and Castle Rock) and one medical school (Rocky Vista University) in our catchment area to advocate, coordinate and develop educational, legislative, and social programs for physicians in our community. With frequent publications and programs sharing available resources, ADEMS helps physicians navigate through the rapidly evolving practice environment and the ever-changing requirements in the practice of medicine. The Board guides the programming and together with CMS, works diligently to advocate for our physicians and ensure our members have access to timely information and resources. Would you be interested in participating? The ADEMS members-at-large position is a great start to seeing what organized medicine is all about. Members-at-large serve a two-year term with an option for another two years. Board meetings are scheduled bi-monthly and alternate with in-person and virtual meetings. Meetings typically fall on the 3rd Tuesday of the month beginning at 6:30 PM and last one hour. The approximate time commitment is 1 hour per month for this position. Dinner is always provided for in-person meetings and they are held at ADEMS office location, 8080 SouthPark Lane, Littleton, or occasionally at a local DTC restaurant.
