Senate gives final approval to Colorado Public Healthcare Option (HB21-1232) with amendments supported by CMS

HB21-1232: Standardized Health Benefit Plan Colorado Option (Public Option) was heard in the Colorado Senate Tuesday.

Important amendments were made to the bill including:

All enforcement, fines and reporting to regulatory boards for health care providers were removed from the bill, eliminating the physician mandate and
The cumulative premium reduction target for the plan was further reduced to 15% from 18%.

The bill passed out of the Senate on third and final reading. The bill now goes back to the House where at least one more vote will be necessary given that it had already passed that chamber; the Senate amendments will have to be considered.

The Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society (ADEMS) Board of Directors is seeking additional physician participants on our Board of Directors to fill opening member-at-large seats.

ADEMS serves as an advocate to its approximate 850 physician members living and working in our counties. ADEMS is not for profit and is a component organization of the Colorado Medical Society. ADEMS proudly partners with the six area hospitals (Porter, Littleton, Swedish, Sky Ridge, Parker, Castle Rock) and one medical school (Rocky Vista) in our catchment area to advocate, coordinate and develop educational and social programs for physicians in our community. With frequent publications and programs sharing available resources, ADEMS helps physicians navigate through the rapidly evolving practice environment and the ever changing requirements in the practice of medicine. The Board guides the programming and together with CMS we work diligently to advocate for our physicians and ensure our members have access to timely information and resources.

Would you be interested in participating? The ADEMS members-at-large position is a great start to see what organized medicine is all about. Members-at-large serve two year terms with an option for another two years. Board meetings are scheduled bimonthly and they will be alternating with in person and virtual meetings going forward. Meetings typically fall on the 3rd Tuesday of the month beginning at 6:30PM and last one hour. The approximate time commitment is 1.5 hours /month for this position. Dinner is always provided for in person meetings and they are held at ADEMS office location, 8080 SouthPark Lane, Littleton.

PCP COVID-19 vaccine communications toolkit

As a trusted source of information for their patients, primary care providers (PCPs) play an

important role in the effort to increase COVID-19 vaccination uptake in our state.

In this toolkit, PCPs will find ready-to-use email, text, and social media messages encouraging their patients to get vaccinated or to set up an appointment once they become a COVID-19 vaccine provider.

Messages have also been translated into Spanish. This toolkit also includes links to graphics
