Dark Sky Week

The Plainfield Park District is proud to support Dark Sky Week April 21-28 to draw attention to light pollution, promote simple solutions to mitigate the issue, and celebrate the irreplaceable beauty of natural night.

The Park District Board of Commissioners officially passed resolution 2025-04, a resolution declaring April 21-28, 2025 as Dark Sky Week at its regular board meeting held April 9, 2025 at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center.

Spring Fishing Derby

🎣🐟 Cast Your Line at the Van Horn Woods Pond Fishing Derby! 🐟🎣

Calling all young anglers! Bring your bait, bucket, and fishing pole to Van Horn Woods East on May 3 from 10–11:30 a.m. for a fun-filled Fishing Derby!

🏆 The competition is divided into three age divisions:

🎣 Ages 3-5

🎣 Ages 6-8

🎣 Ages 9-13

📢 Bonus: All participants are entered into a raffle at sign-in! (Must be present to win.)

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 All children must be accompanied by an adult. The event will take place rain or shine, so dress appropriately!
