ARBORETUM NEWS

July 8, 2026

Hello,

So far, it has been hot, it has been wet, but most of all, it has been fun!

The summer adventures continue this week at CHA. Squirrel Scouts are exploring some of our tiniest creatures, invertebrates! From ants and spiders to fireflies and worms, they are finding out firsthand how not-so-creepy these crawlers can be. Meanwhile, it's Animal Adaptations week for the Explorers. The week began with conversations about physiological adaptations like shark noses and camouflage, and continues with behavioral adaptations like migration.

Through it all, we continue to welcome visitors into the Stone House and out on the trails each and every day. Please note that the building is open 9am-4pm 7 days a week with limited access to the animal exhibits on weekdays while camp is in session. Trails remain open and accessible 7 days a week from dawn until dusk.

Sincerely,

CHA Staff

Staff Spotlight!

"I’m a junior at Skidmore College studying psychology and economics. I’m excited to have fun with all the new kids at camp this summer and learn about their unique interests."

Lily is back for her second year of Nature Discovery Camp! She is a leader who is always interested in learning something new about how the Arboretum works. Not only that, but she strives to take that knowledge and put it into action to improve both camper's and fellow staff member's experiences at CHA each and every day. She is an absolute rockstar with our youngest campers, and we are excited to have her back with us this year!
