The English language contains more than 100,000 adjectives (rather paltry compared to my specific flock’s over one million squawks for just the color of shrimp), but our home du jour brings to mind one word: Arcadia.
Most known for his incredible Pasadena Presbyterian Church, architect John Andre Gougeon nestled this precious jewel among the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley. The home’s Mid-century Modern geometric rigidity harmonizes with its pastoral surroundings: soaring windows (and a heavenly clerestory!) flood the home with natural light, 13 foot ceilings feel at one with the mountainous topography, and exposed beams in sturdy wood invite the breathtaking views inside.
Sure, you may not know your squawk from your other-squawk, but paradise isn’t something you can describe — you have to come see this treasure of Sierra Madre for yourself!
