Growing the "A"
AHS Band & Orchestra Teacher named Arizona's recipient of "50 Directors Who Make A Difference"
Since his arrival at Arcadia, Mr. Jan
Gardner, the Arcadia Band and Orchestra has transformed the instrumental music program at Arcadia. Recently, he was selected to represent Arizona in the annual "50 Directors Who Make a Difference" for School Band and Orchestra Magazine's December 2019 issue. Mr. Gardner's superb leadership has led the Spirit of Arcadia Marching Band to be state champions in just 3 years (the first SUSD school to ever win state). He also led the orchestra and symphonic programs to receive the highest mark of superior in competition.  For over two decades,  School Band and Orchestra Magazine's December issue has honored music directors, featuring only one music educator from each state. It is a prestigious honor to be nominated and Arcadia is proud *and lucky* to have such am amazing teacher.

Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board Meeting 11-19-19
Mr. Gardner was was also honored on November 19th at the SUSD Governing Board Meeting for recognition of their recent double state championship wins.
Boys Soccer
Varsity and JV soccer teams went to St Mary's Food Bank on November 23rd to volunteer and packed  1150 emergency food boxes.

Sign up by Dec 13th, Test on Jan 17th at 8:00 am
While the ASVAB is a military career assessment tool, it can also give non-military bound students insight into their strengths and abilities, making it useful for career planning.  Because this is an aptitude test it doesn't just tell you what you are currently good at, it will also tell you what you may be good at learning. You may know nothing about electronics but your scores may say you have the ability to learn electronics.

Students interested in testing should stop by the College and Career Center and see Mrs. Stauff to sign up for the ASVAB Career Exploration Program.  There is no cost to you for taking this assessment. The test will take place on January 17th at 8:00 am in Mt. O (you will be excused from classes)  Sign up by December 13th. Do not miss out on this great FREE opportunity! Want to know more about the test? Read this:  https://www.petersons.com/blog/taking-asvab-prepares-you-for-career-planning-or-military-enlistment/
