Speech & Debate Needs Help!

Supplies & Volunteers Needed Dec 1st & 2nd
On Dec. 1 and 2 Arcadia will be hosting 50 schools at the Speech and Debate Winter Trophy Tournament.  Needed for those two days are food/drinks/snacks for the schools, judges, tournament teams, coaches, participants and guests. Any questions, please contact Clayton Guy at cguy@susd.org

Volunteers Needed
If you want to help in other ways, we could use people to:
  • watch the judges lounge for food shortages and restocking
  • helping the students sell food
  • being an ambassador to show people around the school
  • helping welcome people to Arcadia.

Unitown is a national youth leadership and diversity development-training program that allows high school students to face and ultimately cross barriers that often divide them in school, addressing real issues that affect teens daily. Unitown brings together students of various backgrounds, and through honest and open dialogue about stereotypes and biases, empowers students to form strong peer relationships and to make their school/community more inclusive and accepting of diversity.

AHS Photography Students at SMOCA

Inspired by Ansel Adams' poetic imagery of the Southwest, AHS & SUSD photography  students trekked into the Arizona desert with  cameras. T he young artists used large-format cameras and explored Ansel Adams'  techniques of landscape photography.  The AHS final product is landscape photographs on enameled steel plates in sepia tone. Staff Profile: Ms. Palatucci
New to the Arcadia administration staff, Ms. Palatucci joined Arcadia's Assistant Principal team over the summer.  When you visit her office, be prepared for a positive reception from a person who is clearly passionate about her job and about Arcadia's students.  As Assistant Principal, she is responsible for student services, graduation, testing, student government, code of conduct, dress code, and serving as an instructional leader for teachers.  READ MORE >>

AHS Lacrosse First Annual Alumni Game was a great success! Thank you to EVERYONE who helped make the game a success by attending or working - especially Stacey Matthews, Tamara Shipley, Brad Amico & Kendall Novara for manning the raffle, spirit wear & water sales. The alumni LOVED it and I hope the current players enjoyed it as well!

SUSD Updates Elementary Science Materials
Scottsdale Schools' kindergarten through eighth students will be receiving updated science kit materials, following governing board approval on Nov. 14.  During a regular Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board meeting, the board approved the $250,000 K-8 science kits on consent.  The need to update the science materials in kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms is essential to stay current with the instructional shift in science education, according to a district staff report.  READ MORE >>
