Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Parent Event
March 6th at 6:30 pm

Parents - You are invited to attend a parent event related to mental health awareness and suicide prevention on Wednesday, March 6, at 6:30 PM. At this event, you will learn about the research-based program Signs of Suicide that all SUSD high school students will take part in. The school wide student event at Arcadia is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19. We invite all parents to attend on March 6 to learn about the student training and ask any questions that you might have. We are thrilled to continue to support the development of the "whole student" here at Arcadia and believe that this program will positively benefit our students and families.

Respectfully,
Todd Stevens,  Principal - Arcadia
AHS Graduate Gabrielle Mills wins prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship
Gabrielle Mills' interest in global health was sparked in high school when she read "The Hot Zone: A Terrifying True Story," a best-selling book about the spread of a highly contagious deadly virus.   "I read 'The Hot Zone' during biology class with Mr. Bodznik my freshman year. It was really fascinating and I decided then that I wanted to learn more about global health and disease," said Mills, who attended Arcadia High School in Phoenix.  READ MORE >>

AHS students refuse to read author accused of sexual harassment
Several Arcadia High School students are refusing to read a book required in their literature class because the author, Sherman Alexie, has been accused by multiple women of sexual harassment.
The Advanced Placement assignment is part of a larger project requiring students to read books authored by writers from different cultures, according to documents the students shared.   READ MORE >>
