Acting Superintendent Meeting Cancelled

Acting Superintendent Dr. Amy Fuller, regretfully, will be cancelling the remaining "Meet the Acting Superintendent" forums scheduled for April. The SUSD Governing Board voted on April 12 to launch searches for both a long-term Interim and a Permanent Superintendent, and community involvement will be an important part of that search process.
Dr. Fuller is grateful to have had the opportunity to hold parents forums in every learning community last month. A written recap of those Q&A sessions is available on  the Superintendent's page of susd.org. If you have a question not answered in those documents that you had planned to ask this month, Dr. Fuller invites you to contact her directly at  afuller@susd.org.

Fourth SUSD administrator placed on paid leave
The Scottsdale Unified School District has placed the administrator in charge of its human resources department on paid leave days after parents uncovered payment discrepancies to three employees.
Assistant Superintendent Pam Sitton was placed on leave effective Monday for "allegations of unprofessional conduct." A district spokeswoman did not elaborate on the allegations that prompted the decision to place Sitton on leave.
The district is also currently investigating more than $7,000 in annual bonus payments collected by Dr. Christopher Thuman, a former district administrator who is now the principal of Ingleside Middle School.    READ MORE >>

SUSD board changes contract language for salary flexibility, officials say
The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board met on Friday afternoon to approve a language revision to certified employee contracts for the 2018-19 school year.
The 2018-19 teacher employment contract revision removed language referencing specific amounts that could be applied to teacher salaries if the state provided SUSD with additional funds. The section was replaced with language stating the Governing Board can determine what that dollar amount is, and does not have any salary ranges within the language.
Prior language allowed the board to increase teacher salaries by an amount not to exceed 4 percent of the base salary, or may make a one-time allocation of funds in an amount not to exceed 10 percent of the base salary.  READ MORE >>
