Reminders and news from Archbishop McNicholas High School--August 2019
Mr. Dave Mueller
Principal's Corner

I hope you are enjoying summer blessings! The first day of classes for all students is August 21 - three weeks from today. Important dates shortly before then include
  • August 18 - First freshman orientation event: evening Mass and picnic for freshmen and parents
  • August 19 and 20 - Freshman orientation days
Fun events early in the school year include
  • September 20 - Opening home varsity football game with food trucks and Homecoming festivities
  • October 5 - "Rocketoberfest" adults-only celebration brings the spirit of Munich to McNick. Thanks to the Military Memorial Committee for sponsoring this event.
The June newsletter summarized new features of the daily schedule for the upcoming school year. An additional feature will be Advisory sessions. The same twelve or so students in the same class year will meet with the same adult for 25 minutes on one of the block days most weeks. The group is small enough so that the members can get to know each other and support each other. The main goal is growth in empathy - for each other and for people outside the group. Now that so much interaction between people has shifted from eye-to-eye to screen-to-screen, it's good to have a weekly opportunity to be intentional about face-to-face communication and caring. Advisories will include
  • Prayer in the spirit of the Ignatian Examen
  • Counseling topics
  • School spirit and fun
  • Goal-setting and self-assessment of progress towards goals
Jesus is our model of empathy. As group members grow in empathy, they will grow towards Full Stature in Christ.
Thanks to our partnership with Educational Outfitters, uniform skorts are available to purchase through the website or at the store located at 2656 E. Sharon Road, Cincinnati OH 45241. If you would like to pick up your order on campus, please select the "Pick up order at store" option when you are checking out online and add a note that you would like to have your order brought to McNicholas for pick up.

Please be sure that you are buying skorts and shorts that will meet the uniform expectations, particularly on the length requirement of no more than two inches above the knee. McNicholas will be enforcing the length requirement, so if you have any questions, please bring your skort and/or shorts to school the first day and have the length approved. Items purchased from Educational Outfitters may not be returned after they have been worn, so please be sure your attire is in line with the  revised uniform guidelines.

Final Forms open for back to school and athletic forms
Archbishop McNicholas High School uses Final Forms, an online forms and data management service, to complete and sign mandatory school and athletic forms. For your convenience, Final Forms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, so you will not need to enter the same information twice. Final Forms also pre-populates information, wherever possible, for each of your students. For your student's safety, Final Forms provides quick access for school personnel and coaches to your student's emergency information.
Forms for all students must be complete and electronically signed by parents and students no later than the first day of school. Forms for FALL ATHLETES must be complete and electronically signed by parents and *students as soon as possible.
Please click here to follow the directions to fill out your mandatory back-to-school forms. If you run into problems with Final Forms, click the Use Support button at the bottom of any Final Forms page and submit an email inquiry. If you need help from McNicholas, please contact Susan Rohlfs at
You will update and sign all forms at the beginning of the school year. This year there will be another sign off date for the student-parent handbook. You will receive an email when that signature is required. You can use your login credentials at any point during the school year to update your student's information. If there is a change in address, medical history, insurance, etc., please update in Final Forms as soon as the information is available.
*Please note: Incoming freshmen will not be able to complete the forms through their school email until they have set up their McNicholas email accounts at their tablet pick-up in August.
