Reminders and news from Archbishop McNicholas High School--August 7, 2019
Mr. Dave Mueller
Principal's Corner

The first day of classes for all students, August 21, is two weeks away, and the pace on campus is picking up. The first Kairos retreat is underway at the Jesuit Spiritual Center at Milford. Please keep the retreatants and the student/adult leaders in your prayers. Fall teams are working hard to be at their best for their opening contests. Student Council is developing plans to pump up Rocket spirit.

Welcome, members of the Class of 2023 and parents! I look forward to seeing you at our first orientation event on the evening of Sunday August 18: Mass at 5:00 in the Café followed by a picnic and icebreakers. Parents, please bring lawn chairs for yourself for the picnic. (Students won't need lawn chairs.)

We say farewell, thank you, and good luck to faculty members who are leaving McNicholas and pursuing new opportunities: Trey Aultman, Rebecca Carmel, John Chadwell, Loretta Graner, Cheryl Heise, Sergio Munda, and Kaitlyn Richter. In next week's newsletter I'll introduce our new faculty members.

Thanks to our partnership with Educational Outfitters, uniform skorts are available to purchase through the website or at the store located at 2656 E. Sharon Road, Cincinnati OH 45241. If you would like to pick up your order on campus, please select the "Pick up order at store" option when you are checking out online and add a note that you would like to have your order brought to McNicholas for pick up.

Please be aware that sizing is different for uniforms than it is for other clothing. There are half sizes as well as junior sizes which are more aligned with what you might expect in misses sizes. If you have questions, please visit the store or call the store for clarification at 771-1234.

Please be sure that you are buying skorts and shorts that will meet the uniform expectations, particularly on the length requirement of no more than two inches above the knee. McNicholas will be enforcing the length requirement, so if you have any questions, please bring your skort (women) or shorts (men) to school the first day and have the length approved. Items purchased from Educational Outfitters may not be returned after they have been worn, so please be sure your attire is in line with the  revised uniform guidelines.

We are aware that there are inventory issues, and consequently have tentatively set September 23 to be the end of the transition time for wearing the old plaid skirts. Incoming freshmen who are awaiting skorts on back order may call the main school office and arrange to borrow a plaid skirt that has been professionally cleaned until the skort order arrives.

Enjoy the remaining days of summer. I look forward to seeing you back on campus after the summer break.

Final Forms open for back to school and athletic forms
Archbishop McNicholas High School uses Final Forms, an online forms and data management service, to complete and sign mandatory school and athletic forms. For your convenience, Final Forms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, so you will not need to enter the same information twice. Final Forms also pre-populates information, wherever possible, for each of your students. For your student's safety, Final Forms provides quick access for school personnel and coaches to your student's emergency information.

Forms for all students must be complete and electronically signed by parents and students no later than the first day of school. Forms for FALL ATHLETES must be complete and electronically signed by parents and *students as soon as possible.

Please click here to follow the directions to fill out your mandatory back-to-school forms. If you run into problems with Final Forms, click the Use Support button at the bottom of any Final Forms page and submit an email inquiry. If you need help from McNicholas, please contact Susan Rohlfs at  srohlfs@mcnhs.org.

You will update and sign all forms at the beginning of the school year. This year there will be another sign off date for the student-parent handbook. You will receive an email when that signature is required. You can use your login credentials at any point during the school year to update your student's information. If there is a change in address, medical history, insurance, etc., please update in Final Forms as soon as the information is available.

*Please note: Incoming freshmen will not be able to complete the forms through their school email until they have set up their McNicholas email accounts at their tablet pick-up in August.
