Respect Life Month
October is a month set aside by the U.S. bishops as a special time in which we emphasize our Church's commitment to the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. It will once again be marked as a time for prayer and action, and this year's theme for the USCCB's
Respect Life Campaign
is "Be Not Afraid"-the
most repeated advice
throughout both the Old and New Testaments.
How might we as individuals and as a community be not afraid to be advocates for
the life and dignity
of every human person?
Share the Journey
In his
General Audience
at St. Peter's Square on Wednesday, September 27th, Pope Francis helped to launch

Student Council Applications for Class of 2021
Freshman Elections for 2017-2018 Student Council will take place on Thursday, Oct. 26. In order to be considered for Student Council, you need to complete the Student Council Application
and email it to Mrs. Jones at
ajones@mcnhs.org
no later than 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20.
Student Council develops leadership skills through planning and executing various activities that focus on service to the school and improving the quality of student life. The 10 representatives will then determine via discernment and voting who will serve as the Class President, Vice President, and Secretary.
For students who would like more information before applying, there will be an informational meeting after school in Room 6 on Tuesday October 17.
For further details, consult the Student Council Bylaws (page 5 of the application materials). No late applications will be accepted. See Mrs. Jones or a current member of the council if you have questions.

Remembering Brad Giesting '04 with random acts of kindness Archbishop McNicholas High School alumnus Brad Giesting '04 touched so many lives with his big smile, witty humor, and endless love for life. Brad proudly served his country as part of the Army's 101
st
Airborne Division, including a tour in Iraq. In May 2013, he was diagnosed with liposarcoma,
a very rare soft tissue cancer. Brad bravely endured over 70 rounds of chemotherapy, 30 rounds of radiation, and six major operations before passing away surrounded by his family on October 22, 2016.
In honor of Brad's life, family and friends will carry on his legacy by celebrating the anniversary of his passing with a Brad's Blessings Random Act of Kindness Day on October 22. McNicholas High School is planning ways for acts of kindness to honor Brad's memory. Rockets are encouraged to post (https://www.facebook.com/bradsblessingsRAK/) random acts of kindness or share random acts of kindness received to help keep Brad's memory alive.
