Are Corporations Golems?

Greetings!

Join us for our upcoming webinar "Golems Among Us," with rabbi, author and activist Ariel Stone. Rabbi Dr. Stone will address how the concept of the golem can help us understand the world today in an age when so many non-human things seem to be taking on a life of their own, from corporations to machines.

Golems Among Us

More than two decades ago Dr Byron Sherwin ז״ל began to point out the similarity between the Jewish legend of the golem and the modern phenomenon known as the corporation. Ancient rabbinical texts shed a fascinating light on the ever shifting line between humanity, machines, and Creation. We’ll consider the development of the golem legend and how it sheds light on everything from an animated broom to synthetic meat.
