Englewood Community Hospital has new visitors hours. Now, thanks to a continued decline in the number of COVID-19 cases in our community, we are lifting some of those restrictions. Visiting hours are now 7 days per week, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for inpatient units, and 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm for patients in the Intensive Care Unit. Charlotte County will commemorate its Centennial year with Centennial Veterans Cruise and Car Show Nov. 13. The celebration begins at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park, 3406 Indiana Road, Rotonda West, 33947 with a color guard and national anthem. Domestic violence affects thousands of Floridians each day, impacting both men and women. Throughout the month of October, your Charlotte County Clerk’s office will be observing Domestic Violence Awareness Month in an effort to highlight the resources available to survivors of domestic violence. In 2019, Federal Emergency Management Administration presented Charlotte County with preliminary coastal flood maps based on updated modeling and data from the community. Meetings were held across the county for the public to review the preliminary maps and ask questions which set the stage for the appeals and comments phase of the process. Due to the COVID pandemic the comment and appeals phase was delayed with FEMA in 2020. In March of 2021, FEMA restarted the appeals and comments phase and that ended in June 2021. FEMA has notified the county and they anticipate the preliminary flood maps to become effective in approximately nine months. This is an approximate timeline and is subject to change by FEMA.
