Eligible for a  Premium Subsidy?
What to expect.

If you believe what you read on Healthcare.gov, eight out of ten people are eligible for a premium tax credit.  That is because that anyone who is at 400% or less of the federal poverty level is eligible to receive a monthly subsidy that will help you pay your premium.  The following chart gives some general guidelines of who is eligible.

In addition to the premium tax credit, people who are within 25 0% of the federal poverty level are eligible for a cost sharing reduction.  This will reduce your deductible and out-of-pocket  maximum.  The calculation for a premium credit is based on the number of people in your household and on your tax return.  If you think you may be eligible for either a premium tax credit or cost-sharing reduction, contact us today.  We will provide you with an estimate of the subsidy and assist you in obtaining it in the enrollment process.  With the price of insurance today, you can't afford to miss an opportunity to save!

Open Enrollment Has Arrived!

Whether you're Medicare-eligible or under age 65, Open  Enrollment is the time  to change plans or update your information on Healthcare.gov.  For Medicare-eligible individuals, you have until December 7 to enroll in a different plan.  Prices are increasing and plans are changing, so it is important to compare plans to assure that you are in the plan that is best for you.

For those under age 65, Open Enrollment runs until January 31, 2015.  However, if you want a plan to begin January 1, you must enroll by December 15.  This third year under the Affordable Care Act is the most tumultuous yet with all the changes to networks.  It is imperative that you check to see that your providers will accept your health plan.  Going out-of-network this year is a particularly bad idea - nearly all of the carriers have significantly raised deductibles and removed your out-of-pocket maximum exposure.  We know confusing it can be to try to navigate the network sites - give us a call and we'll be glad to help.

If you had a premium tax credit in 2015, it is important that you update your information on Healthcare.gov to be certain that you get the appropriate 2016 subsidy.  If you don't do this, you will get the same credit as last year while you may be eligible for a greater subsidy in 2016.  Call us today and we'll guide you through the process.
