Dear Mountain Laurel Community,
As you may know, Mountain Laurel was awarded a grant from the NoVo Foundation in the amount of $600,000, to be distributed in $200,000 increments. The 2019-20 school year will mark the second distribution of funds.
A portion of this grant money has been earmarked for partial scholarships for low-income families, and we are excited to also be able to offer full scholarships for two students entering seventh grade, that would carry through to eighth grade, as long as eligibility criteria is maintained. (Please note: you must reapply each school year in order to be considered for any NoVo Scholarship.)
We are now accepting applications for the 2019-20 school year.
If you are interested in applying, please fill out the form attached and submit it to the office no later than Friday, May 10, 2019.
The initial stage will include a review of your SSS Financial Aid Application and 2018 tax return. The return should have been submitted to MLWS when you filled out your SSS Financial Aid Application. If you did not submit your 2018 tax return, you must do so to be considered for an award.
Once your paperwork is processed and low-income status has been confirmed, an interview will be scheduled. Interviews will conducted between May 13th - 24th. Awards will be announced the week of May 27th.
Please be advised that a determination of whether an award is warranted will not be based entirely upon income, but a complete analysis of assets and resources.
Please submit your tax return and the attached form to the office no later than Friday, May 10, 2019.
