Have You Been Fully Vaccinated?
People are considered fully vaccinated:
- 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, like the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
- 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, like Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine
If it has been less than 2 weeks since your shot, or if you still need to get your second dose, you are NOT fully protected. Keep taking all prevention steps until you are fully vaccinated.

There are several ways to find a vaccine appointment.
1. Register with the State of California at: myturn.ca.gov to be notified when you are eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccination.

Mass Vaccination Site at Waterworld expected to open by end of March
Contra Costa County is partnering with Kaiser Permanente to host a mass vaccination site at the Waterworld theme park in Concord by the end of March with capacity to administer as many as 11,000 doses per week.
The actual number of shots delivered per week will depend on vaccine supply from the state.

"Help Your Neighbor" Program
For Contra Costa residents who are eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccine, an appointment to get immunized is just a few clicks away. But not everyone feels comfortable making an appointment online or through email.
If you know someone who is eligible for a COVID-19 immunization appointment right now, but may need a little help, please make that offer. Even if you cannot yet make an appointment for yourself, you can help someone you know – and the whole community.

Qualifications for Clients
In order to apply as a client for our Rides programs, the individual must meet ALL the following criteria:
- Live in our service area, which is anywhere in Contra Costa County.
- Age 60 or older.
- Able to walk with the aid of a cane, walker, knee scooter, crutches, or elbow assistance.
- Require escorted, door-through-door assistance.
- Able to call in to request rides.
- Unable to use other forms of transportation for medical or dental care and basic necessities, like grocery shopping.
- Trained, certified service animals welcome.

Mobility Matters is currently working with each client who has not already been vaccinated to make an appointment for them and transport them door-through-door as well as wait in line with them for their safety. They follow up with them by phone the next day to be sure they are managing any side effects. After all Mobility Matters clients are vaccinated with both shots, they will reach out to other seniors in need.

Call 211 for Resources
The nonprofit Contra Costa Crisis Center runs the 211 call center for Contra Costa County, answering calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Contact 211 to access free and confidential crisis and suicide prevention counseling, and referrals for disaster assistance, food, health care and insurance assistance, stable housing and utilities payment assistance, employment services, veteran services, and childcare and family services.
The Board supports the Contra Costa Crisis Center’s efforts to broaden awareness about the vital services provided through its 211 call center, and encourages residents to utilize the free, confidential services to seek support for themselves and loved ones.

Medication Safety Workshop

A vital workshop for Seniors and their family and professional caretakers. Learn how Seniors can be unexpectedly impacted by commonly prescribed medications such as painkillers, sedatives and stimulants. Learn about their special medication vulnerabilities, risk factors, possible signs of misuse/abuse and how to reverse an opioid overdose if that happens. Receive special tips that can help keep the Seniors in your life safe from medication impacts.

Leadership Development Program
Attend a four-day virtual conference coordinated by American Red Cross. Designed to cultivate core leadership skills such as teamwork, public speaking, and diversity awareness, the Leadership Development Center builds confidence and lasting friendships. Through service learning and hands-on, interactive games, participants leave empowered to serve their communities. Students attending LDC will participate in workshops on topics including disaster preparedness, diversity, public speaking, leadership, and international relations.
We are accepting students in grades 9–12 (including graduating seniors) who are interested in gaining new skills and meeting Red Cross youth throughout our region.
Deadline to apply is April 15, 2021.

Opportunity Junction Online Training

Opportunity Junction is just TWO MONTHS away from running our Administrative Careers Training program ONLINE, via Zoom!
This provides participants with a chance to learn the skills needed for administrative careers from home! This is a great opportunity for those who have transportation challenges or are too far from Antioch to attend class in-person to gain the skills needed to launch new careers. Only broadband internet service is needed, we provide the rest.
Application sessions begin May 3rd, and candidates can start the application process by applying online now! Online applications (and the entire application process) can be completed using any internet-enabled device, including a smartphone.
We will provide loaner laptops to candidates accepted to the program because full-time access to a computer with Microsoft Office installed is necessary.

COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD?
The Community Advisory Board was established on February 2, 2021 following passage of Measure X – a countywide sales tax measure providing general purpose revenue for County programs estimated to generate at least $81 million annually.
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is seeking individuals that represent broad and diverse voices, perspectives and expertise, including but not exclusive to: budget justice advocacy, children’s services, community health, consumer advocacy, faith leadership, senior services, fire and public safety protection, housing and homelessness, labor union representation, legal advocacy, local businesses, mental health services, non-partisan civic organizations, policy organizations, public health, racial justice and equity, safety net services, substance abuse services, taxpayers, and youth services, to serve on the newly established Measure X Community Advisory Board.
The Measure X Community Advisory Board is composed of 10 Supervisorial District seats and 7 At-Large seats, for a total of 17 seats and is responsible for the following:
- Overseeing an annual assessment of community needs, focusing primarily on the priority areas identified in the Measure X Needs Assessment, including emergency response (fire/medical), health care, safety net services, preventative care, affordable housing, and support for early childhood, youth, families, and seniors;
- Creating a detailed priority list of the top service gaps based on the results from the Needs Assessment;
- Using the Needs Assessment to make funding priority recommendations to the Board of Supervisors annually;
- Providing an Annual Report on the outcomes and impact of allocated funds; and
To be considered, candidates must either live or work in Contra Costa County. The Community Advisory Board will initially meet as needed to develop recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, then shall meet at least quarterly. During COVID-19, Committee members will meet via online conferencing as permitted by the Governor’s Executive Order N29-20 issued on March 17, 2020.
Members of the Community Advisory Board will receive no compensation for their service and must complete State required ethics training as well as County training on the open meeting laws, including the Ralph M. Brown Act and Better Government Ordinance. Initial members of the Committee shall serve staggered terms of two or three years, with subsequent appointments serving three-year terms, with a maximum of six years served consecutively by any member. Currently elected or appointed public officials, including, but not limited to, Mayors, City Councilmembers, City Managers and Fire Chiefs are not eligible for appointment. Candidate interviews will take place during the month of March and the Board of Supervisors plans to make final appointments in late March or April 2021.

The Countywide Bicycle Advisory Committee provides input to the County and the cities of the County on bicycle projects for Transportation Development Act (TDA) funds to construct bicycle/pedestrian projects and also provides advice to cities and the County on bicycle planning matters.

First 5 Contra Costa helps young children start school healthy and ready to learn. They invest in programs and advocate for policies focused on children during their first five years, the most important time in children's development.
The commission meets on the second Monday of each month at 6 pm located at 1485 Civic Court, Suite 1200 in Concord.
Knightsen Town Advisory Council

Applicants must reside within the Knightsen TAC boundaries to serve on this board.
The Council advises the Board of Supervisors on land use and planning matters affecting the community of Knightsen and may represent the Knightsen community before the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, and the Zoning Administrator on such issues as land use, planning, and zoning. The Council may also represent the community before the Local Agency Formation Commission on proposed boundary changes affecting the community.
The Council may advise the Board of Supervisors on services which are or may be provided to the community by Contra Costa County or other local government agencies. Such services include, but are not limited to, public health, safety, welfare, public works, and planning. The Council may also provide input and reports to the Board, County staff, or any County hearing body on issues of concern to the community.
However, it is understood that the Board of Supervisors is the final decision-making authority with respect to issues concerning the community and that the Council shall serve solely in an advisory capacity.
The Council meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:30 pm located at the Knightsen Farm Bureau in Knightsen.
Assessment Appeals Board

The Assessment Appeals Board conducts impartial hearings on property assessment disputes between taxpayers and the county assessor. Based on the evidence presented at these hearings, the appeals board determined the value of the disputed property or determines other matters of property tax assessment within the board’s jurisdiction.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess five or more years of professional experience in California as one of the following: licensed real estate broker, attorney, certified public accountant (CPA) or public accountant, property appraiser accredited by a nationally recognized professional organization, property appraiser certified by the Office of Real Estate Appraisers, or property appraiser certified by the State Board of Equalization.
Compensation:
This is a volunteer position. Assessment Appeals Board members are compensated for their time at hearings and reimbursed for their mileage to attend assessment appeals hearings.
The Assessment Appeals Board meets every Thursday at 9:00 a.m. located at 651 Pine Street, Room 107 in Martinez.
Library Commission

The Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors and the County Librarian; provides a forum for the community to provide input concerning Library operations and recommends proposals to the Board of Supervisors and the County Librarian which may improve the Library.
The Commission meets on the 4th Thursday of every other month at 7pm located at 777 Arnold Drive in Martinez.

Background: The Board of Supervisors receives valuable input and community participation from numerous citizen advisory boards on a range of issues. Boards usually meet monthly on a regular basis.
Candidates for these positions must live in District 3 or any specified boundary area for special districts. District 3 is comprised of the cities of Antioch, Oakley, and Brentwood, and the unincorporated communities of Blackhawk, Diablo, Bethel Island, Byron, Knightsen, and Discovery Bay.
