From Familiar Faces to Meaningful Connections
Most of us recognize people at church whose stories we do not yet know.
We may sit near them in worship, pass them in the narthex, or exchange a greeting during the peace.
But meaningful connection usually begins when someone takes one small step: saying hello to the stranger sitting in the same pew, joining a conversation in fellowship hall, learning another person’s name, listening to someone's story.
The second movement of Kick-Off Weekend is connection.
Kick-Off Weekend will offer the opportunity for us to connect around tables on September 12-13 and continue to connect at tables in our homes, at restaurants, at church, and other locales throughout the fall. Our potluck mixer will give us an initial time to talk, laugh, reconnect, and welcome new people, with the idea that the connections will continue through the remainder of the year.
Kick-Off Weekend is not merely about attending another activity. It is about becoming connected, known, supported, encouraged, and strengthened in faith.
Who might appreciate a personal invitation from you?
Consider inviting a family member, friend, neighbor, or someone you have not seen recently to join you at either our September 12 dinner following Saturday worship or the September 13 brunch between worship services.
Because sometimes a simple invitation is the beginning of belonging.
