Dear Friends,
This Sunday we will again return to 2 Corinthians 10 to learn how the Apostle Paul defended his apostleship against those from the church in Corinth who sought to discredit him.
As I was contemplating Paul, I was thinking about you and me. How prepared are we to defend our faith in Jesus? I am reminded of Peter’s words, But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander, 1 Peter 3:15-16.
Read that again…always be prepared. We live in a world where we are surrounded by those who are not followers of Jesus and who do not understand why we do what we do; others who are enemies of us and the Lord we serve; and those who are actually open to dialogue about where they should place their faith. Do you remember what I shared last week? Everyone is a person of faith, everyone is a disciple. Who is our faith IN and WHO are we a disciple of?
We prepare ourselves as we…
»Love God daily - seek to learn more about our Lord, and express our love for Him each day.
»Love others daily - seek to activate our actions and attitude concerning others. What can we do today to enrich the life of someone who crosses our path?
»Surrender daily - seek to surrender our life to Jesus daily to lead, guide and direct. In advance, have our YES to Him and our NO to the world in place. That’s obedience in action!
»Be generous daily - Pay it forward, activate our actions and attitudes concerning the use of our time, talent and treasure, knowing that all we do is an investment in Kingdom building. Be a blessing to someone today.
»Be on mission daily - each of us are called to partner with the God of all creation to assist in the expansion of His kingdom here on earth. God is waiting for our participation - so be ready to participate!
We are living at an amazing time in history, and we have an opportunity to make a difference, so join me and let’s see what God wants, and will do, because we choose to join Him.
See you Sunday!
