What's Happening at The Arc Dane County
Special Needs Disaster Preparation

Because of the recent rain and threats of significant flooding, we want to be sure you and your loved ones are prepared for a disaster (including flooding, house fire, tornado, or more)

Dane County Emergency Management is providing information to assist our medically fragile, disabled and special needs citizens to plan for an emergency or disaster that may necessitate having to stay at home for several days, or to evacuate from their home or community. An emergency or disaster can affect people in many different ways, and for some people it can mean a matter of life and death.

If there are people you support who live in the flood prone areas, please contact  Dane County Emergency services at 266-4387.
Wings for All®
is Coming to Dane County!
Member Only registration is now open (members received a separate message).  Public registration will be open on September 4th.

The Arc Dane County is excited to announce that we have a Wings for All® event scheduled at the Dane County Regional Airport on Saturday, October 20 in partnership with the Dane County Regional Airport, TSA, Delta Air Lines, the national office of The Arc, and three chapters of The Arc Wisconsin:  The Arc Dane County, The Arc Green County and The Arc Richland County.

Wings for All® is an airport rehearsal program for individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability (I/DD) who have either never flown before or who have had difficulties with a flight experience.

This event is free for all participants; however online registration is required and done on a first-signed up, first-served basis until full. We know there will be more demand for this event than the plane can accommodate.

Watch your inbox on September 4th announcing when public registration is open!

Helpful Back to School Apps for Children With I/DD
No matter which hurdles your kid faces, the apps and other media included in this guide can give him or her an added boost. We don't expect an app to be a complete solution, of course. Working with kids who face challenges requires lots of time, attention, and patience on the part of a parent, teacher, or other adult caregiver. The goal of Common Sense Media is to offer you a host of fun, well-designed apps that were recommended and tested by field experts. We hope they can become a part of your toolkit as you work with your child.  Click here for the online guide.
