All of my farmers and gardeners out there know what it's like to consider the canvas of a vacant field and imagine a bounty of fruits, vegetables, plants, and flowers growing in the abundant soil. They know how it feels to get their hands dirty... planting seeds, cultivating the ground, and nurturing what they have sown. They remain vigilant against pest and anything that might interfere with the growth of their expected harvest.
And so it is with dreamers and doers... How many times have you taken a look into the unknown and seen that which is not yet manifested in the physical form? Maybe your dream was to create art, to design property... to own property even, to be of service to your community, to speak publicly, to write a book. Whatever your dream might be, the first step to its fruition is planting a seed.
So, what are your seeds? They're different for everyone. Perhaps going back to school, spending time mapping out your business plan, reading more, saving a percentage of your pay. Whatever your larger vision is, dial it back to it's simplest form, prepare yourself for some hard work, and plant those seeds.
Get busy tending your garden and protecting your seedlings from the weeds that threaten to strangle its growth. Weeds appear in many forms, and it's important to recognize them so you can prevent them from wreaking havoc in your journey. Laziness, lack of confidence, opinions of people who lack your vision, the obstacles of life will randomly pop up unexpected and uninvited. Address these weeds immediately, refusing to allow them room to grow in your space.
This spring season, coach Rho and Power UP news challenge you to get busy planting seeds into your dream. Your mind is a fertile ground capable of producing abundant results! Take the time this spring to sow into your goals so that in due season you can proudly reap the harvest of your hard work and diligence.

From My Recent Digital Cleanse
Taking a purposeful break from mindless web surfing, fragmented focusing associated with social media (aka digital dementia), and the incessant use of our go to devices is a great way to tap into higher levels of peace and clarity. The constant comparison of our lives to the lives of others that we watch on various feeds, as well as the constant consumption of the agendas of others chips away at our own unique abilities to identify and explore personal values. Coach Rho recommends taking time to perform your own digital cleanse as a means of tapping back into your ideas and reassessing your belief systems.

Like many of us, this Personal Power University Alum wears many hats. She is a Wife. She is a Mother. She is also an Author. Power UP News would like to shine the spotlight on Ronni Davis. Ronni has spent her life sharpening her skills, nurturing her talent, overcoming setbacks, and never giving up on her dream of becoming a published author.
Born and raised in Cleveland, OH Ronni began writing at 11 years old. She reminisces on the highlights of her first story: her friends, a haunted house, and Michael Jackson... and so her creative writing journey began. A self-proclaimed daydreamer, she spent her time in Junior High with her head in the clouds. Eventually, Ronni began writing her dreams down on paper. It never occurred to her that she could transform her daydreams into her profession. That all changed her senior year in high school when her English teacher, Ms. Wheeler, spoke life into her dream! In her farewell message to Ronni in the school yearbook she wrote how talented Ronni was and that she had the potential to become a famous author one day.
This burst of encouragement fueled Ronni to further explore and refine her talent. In college Ronni opened herself up to receive constructive criticism from her peers. Although submitting to this form of critique was a tough and at times a humbling process, what she learned made it all worthwhile. By succumbing to this level of feedback Ronni not only learned to sharpen her writing skills, she also gained the mental toughness required for the often times critical world of agency and publishing. Both of which she would appreciate as she prepared to sell her first novel. It took a year to secure an agent. Sadly, her book never sold. In 2008, Ronni experienced a shift in her personal life. In the midst of a divorce she realized her writing career did not afford her the financial stability she needed to provide for her son, so she shifted gears and gave up writing. Four years later she came to another realization: she missed writing. Not only that, she recognized a need for diversity in the mainstream work by African American authors; particularly for teens. In short, black girls needed more stories and Ronni had lots of characters in her head. So, she got started again.
Learning to find her rhythm, it took 3 years to generate a first draft. Ronni stayed the course. She took another year to work on revisions. In February 2017 Ronni selected an agent. After 6 months of agent revisions her book was ready for the editors. It's been 7 years since Ronni returned to her passion of writing. Seven years of never giving up on her dream. She attributes her commitment to follow through, goal setting, and accountability to the seeds that were planted and hammered in by Coach Rho as a two-time student in Personal Power University. In fact, Ronni admitted she wouldn't mind going through the program a 3rd time! Remaining grateful is a another huge takeaway from Coach Rho... to that end Ronni states getting published was like a dream coming true, and she's grateful. Although a long process, her book, When the Stars Lead to You, is one of her proudest accomplishments.

What's in Your Library?
While Personal Power University graduates are very familiar with this classic, Power UP News thought it was fitting to share this gem with a larger audience. Here's why.
