A record number of Juneteenth Celebrations from across America and around the world are scheduled in 2014. Next year we will be celebrating the 150th year anniversary of the celebration of Juneteenth Independence Day.
However, the national media continues to ignore the significance of Juneteenth Independence Day in America, the National Day of Reconciliation and Healing from the Legacy of Enslavement and the
World Day of Reconciliation and Healing from the Legacy of Enslavement.

to leave President Obama a Juneteenth Request!
Unfortunately, President Obama did not issue a Juneteenth Proclamation, host a Juneteenth event or honor our ancestors, Americans of African descent, who built the White House during the tyranny of enslavement, or issue what has become a customary annual presidential Juneteenth greeting. As the first African American to occupy the White House in American history, this was indeed a very, very sad development.
Please keep sending petitions to President Obama urging him to issue a Presidential Juneteenth Proclamation in 2014. Call the White House at 202-456-1414 and tell President Obama to support efforts to make Juneteenth Independence Day a National Day of Observance, like Flag Day or Patriot Day by issuing President Obama to issue a Juneteenth Presidential Proclamation.
Our 2014 National Juneteenth Holiday Campaign resulted in most recently Maryland becoming the 43rd state to recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday or state holiday observance. That leaves seven states including Hawaii, Utah, North Dakota, South Dakota, New Hampshire, Arizona and Montana that need to pass similar legislation.
