Today is National Screening Day
for Gambling Addiction Disorder
March 14 is Gambling Disorder Screening Day. Learn more about what you can do to help screen your clients for problem gambling and become acquainted with the Minnesota Alliance on Problem Gambling.
It’s well documented that gambling disorders often co-occur with other addictions. Therefore, it’s important to know the signs of what is often labeled “the hidden addiction.” Some of the more important signs of problem gambling are included here.
The benefit of the gambling screen is that you can get a quick read on whether your client might have a gambling problem by asking two to three questions. For more information about screening for problem gambling and the various tools you can use, please click here to access a comprehensive gambling disorder screening toolkit. The kit also includes a workbook you can distribute to your client so they may begin to understand their behavior and chart a path to recovery.
