Over the recent months, the DOB has made several changes to safety training compliance deadlines for NYC construction workers. Now, only a few short weeks remain until the final November 9th cut-off date for the below-listed safety training programs is in place. Construction workers have limited time to meet the updated refresher training requirements for the following licenses and certifications:
  • Rigging Workers
  • Rigging Supervisors
  • Supported Scaffold Erectors/Dismantlers
  • Suspended Scaffold Supervisors
  • Concrete Safety Managers
If you received any training or certifications that expired during the time covered by executive orders 120 and 149, they must be renewed by the new November 9th, 2020 date. 
Let’s say we took a walkthrough of a New York City construction project and collected all cards carried onsite—we’d be sure to find licenses in the pockets of most workers. Construction sites in NYC often have specific requirements from agencies like the DOB for workers performing tasks which require particular knowledge and training. Time constraints and tight budgets aren’t new issues for our industry to face, but when you put the strict requirements from governing agencies like the DOB into the mix, things can get tricky.
