* Void of life purpose
* Missing loving relationships
* Afraid that "empty nest" means "empty future"
* In need of executive presence
* Unable to "just move on"

In my work as a CEO of organizations over the last 17 years as well as in my coaching practice I have come to realize that there is one overarching feeling that successful people have that those who are not successful don't. Those who are successful feel that they are worthy to be where they are.  They carry themselves with confidence because they feel confident. People trust them with great responsibility because they know they can get the job done.

People who feel worthy have great self-awareness. They are mindful. They know their strengths and how to cope with their weaknesses. They are constantly assessing their behavior and feelings for the better good of all.  Those who are less in tune to their effect on others and themselves often question their worthiness. They end up feeling and behaving in ways that move them farther away from what they really want. They interpret situations from a victim or control mentality. They lean away from vulnerability at the exact point when they need to lean into it.

Consider slowing your life down enough to be mindful of what happens if you are mindful of the effects of your behavior. If anything on the list below is familiar to you, slow your life down enough to listen to the music of what you might be grateful for.

When Mindfulness is Missing

1. Worthiness comes into question

2. Guilt and shame set in

3. Expectations abound

4. You fear change

5. Become defensive

6. Resentful

7. Perfectionist

8. Feel like you don't fit in or belong

9. Compare and judge

10. Close off to vulnerability - LEAN IN TO VULNERABILITY!!!

11. Emotions start to shut down. And they are not exclusive. When one shuts down - they all do. If you shut down to pain, disappointment, frustration, and regret you will also not feel love, joy, excitement, happiness, or delight.

12. Happiness is temporary

13. Waiting for the next bad thing to happen

14. Afraid to feel joy because it won't last

15. Forget what gratitude feels like

16. Over-function - Get busy to be productive

Listen to the silence of every moment. Hear yourself breath. What is in the silence?
