And guess what? These new systems do not cost any less than the old full service car washes. Once again, our society has changed -- gone (or minimized) is the full-service option morphing into "we'll let the customer do most of the work"!

Those drive-through systems are quick and basically efficient. I can wash, dry and vacuum my own car in about 15 minutes but I am by no means very good at it.

The problem with these new car wash systems is that you never get the detail effort that really helps prolong the look and life of your car (unless you're a car person who really packs in the elbow grease).

We here at Executive Errands® understand most people don't want to bother taking the car to the car wash and really don't enjoy doing their own vacuuming so we offer mobile car wash services. We can do both a quick wash and a full detail. And we do care for many of our clients' vehicles -- often weekly.

But I thought on the off chance you enjoy cleaning your car, you might enjoy some helpful tips on how to get the type of clean that detailers do! Let's get started:

--Recently we've encountered a butterfly apocalypse -- the local super bloom has brought out bugs in droves and they unfortunately smash into your car, leaving a sticky mess that then 'bakes' onto the car during the heat of the day.

To help remove these bugs easier, rub them with used dryer sheets. For some reason this makes them come off your car easier during the wash (hey! I don't know the science behind it, only that it works!)

--Ever find yourself frustrated trying to get into the small cracks/crevices of your drink holders? Get them clean once and then use cupcake liners which fit in them beautifully. That way you can just toss the liner when it gets dirty and avoid using cotton swabs ever again.

--As we all know, here in the desert, windshield wipers only last a season. However, if you wipe them with rubbing alcohol, they will not smear your windshield the next time it rains (unless you've left the butterfly apocalypse aftermath, in which case, the rubbing alcohol will not help you).

--We don't have pets, but we have friends and family who do -- and the amount of dog hair collected on seats, particularly cloth seats is shocking! And it can be difficult to get out (vacuuming alone just won't do it). Try a light misting with a spray bottle filled with water and then use a squeegee (do not overly wet the upholstery). Most, if not all, of the hair will come off easily.

--Have you ever regretted a bumper sticker? Remove them easily with WD-40.

And my favorite (drum roll please....)

--A damp Magic Eraser will get grime out of your leather or faux leather seats

I'm a sucker for Magic Eraser -- it cleans all kinds of things -- I've used it to remove magic marker from the face of an oak dresser drawer and to get the dimples of linoleum/vinyl flooring clean. Magic Eraser is one of the best cleaning products on the market and all it takes is water! LOVE IT! (This is not a paid endorsement)

To properly clean your vehicle, if you're not a car detailer by trade, can take hours. I don't know about you, but my time is better spent on other activities.
