From mid-November on through the rest of the year, I'm in a good mood. It's The Holidays.
They just bring out a happy spirit in me.
But I know there are plenty of you who don't really care about The Holidays. Or maybe you even actively dislike them.
i suspect it has something to do with the feeling that you can't get away from it all. The music, the marketing of Christmas and the imposed gift-giving.
But what if you could choose which holidays you wanted to celebrate?
There aren't enough to go around you say? Well, Mr. and Ms. Grinch, I beg to differ.
In fact, if you wanted to celebrate a holiday today, Thursday, Dec. 10, you have a choice:
Dewey Decimal System Day; or Human Rights Day; or Nobel Prize Day. They all are celebrated today.
Not feeling very book-ish or righteous or brilliant today? Okay, wait until tomorrow and you can celebrate
National Noodle Ring Day.
Or hold out for Saturday's
National Ding-a-Ling Day
Actually, every day of the year has something to celebrate (see the
National Day Calendar
), and I guarantee you'll find something to bring a smile to your Scrooge-y face. So toss off those blues and celebrate something that appeals to you more than Santa Claus (as incredible as that sounds to me).
In the meantime, have a look at what the photographers think of when you say, "
