According to Jeff Thompson, Director of Technology at CE Tech, “Edge computing is not about sitting on a cliff with a laptop or putting a server in a remote branch office. Its about driving business intelligence to the edge, closer to your data and to your customers.” Today, a million new devices come online per hour and this creates fundamental problems with the physics of ingesting data and storing it, as well as driving actionable insight from it. The scale of the challenges we’re trying to solve at the edge is rapidly growing. We’re expecting the number of devices to grow three-fold, the actual data to grow five-fold, and the nature of that content becomes more and more real time.
